uncharacteristic sleeplessness

I read for awhile-- I'm well into and enjoying Mansfield Park-- but then lost the ability to concentrate. Then I decided I was hungry, and ate a bit of yogurt and a banana. I messed around with the radio tuner, but I couldn't find the AM station with the all night BBC World Service, so settled for the classical station, on really low. Finally, I ( Read more... )

The closest store is on Newbury Street in Boston, I think. Have you followed American Apparel in the news? Quite the fodder for women's studies discussions. On the one hand, they're an exemplary model of fair labor practices in terms of pay rate, benefits, workplace safety, worker education, etc. On the other hand, the bossman preaches and practices this code of workplace sexual morality that, while cloaked in third-wave feminist pro-sex jargon, pretty much amounts to widescale sexual harassment. I'd be interested in your opinion of this state of affairs.

it's normally odd for me to have them, too - except for this summer it's become the norm. aren't there 24-hour coffee places in northampton? the closest one to us is over an hour away.

It's really, really odd for me to have sleep issues, so I'm doubly unsure of what to do with myself. If only there were some 24-hour coffeeshop or diner I could have escaped to. No such luck!

I adore Mansfied Park. I read it during the last dreadful temp job I had during YOU INC.

There are America Apparel stores on every block in Montreal. I read an article about the guy who owns it, either in Bust or Bitch Magazine or was it Jane? He pleasures himself in public. SO sketchy.

I met a man for you Dave. He works for the library of Virginia and works in development, acts, sings, writes, loves Dan Savage, and is a vegetarian. He doesn't want to become a librarian because he thinks they are scary. He has a degree in Women's Studies and a minor in religious studies.

Is he cute is certainly a good question. He is definately "cute" but not a stunner. He has a good sense of style, nice hair, and fun glasses. He is frighteningly thin- but of course, if he is a boy I would think is attractive. Did I also mention he has spent two summers living in NYC?
