sometimes I wonder what made me the way that I am. parents, siblings, friends. all college graduates or well on the way there. They have lives where they go places and talk to people and have real jobs where they don't rely on an eighteen year old to give them shifts that only last two hours ( Read more... )

my problem is that I have social anxiety that can get pretty bad. I have never been a sociable person. I went to the colbert cain rally with nick and the entire time I was there I was so insanely uncomfortable being around people. especially people my age. There have been a few times when someone new has expressed interest in hanging out with me and my immediate thought is almost always "I don't want to be around someone new"

I don't think you're a fuck up at all. Life's not cookie cutter, it takes some people longer to find their way.

I royally fucked over my life and I'm retardedly depressed about it. Just be happy you're not staring down 30 and have nothing to prove for your life.

college ain't going anywhere. If you end up wanting to go, good...if not, also...good. Just because you go to college doesn't mean you're going to get some kickass job. One of my ex closest friends went to business school and was all psyched to get some super sexy shiney new high profile job and right now she's working as a bar tender two nights a week and selling books and DVD's on amazon to pay her bills basically.

if it makes you feel better, I have exactly three friends in the world.

thanks for that. I do try and tell myself that college is not as important as people make it out to be. The problem with that is that I live in a college town. The usual icebreaker in a conversation with someone is "so...you're at college of charleston..." I just don't want to waste my time and my parents' money doing something my heart and head are genuinely not in. but no one in my life seems to accept and/or understand that

You're very smart and very able--you're just having a low point right now, but you're going to overcome this and it'll probably just take a little time. The main thing I would say is that you're still very young and you shouldn't feel like you've blown your opportunities ( ... )
