I'm guessing it was Jasper Fforde, from your tag :0) I met him about 3 years ago, he was great :0)

Correct *gives you a gold star*.

I hadn't even ready a single book of his until CaterinaAnna told me we were going to this. Since then I've read the two Nursery Crime books, which I loved, and The Eyre Affair, which I also enjoyed. I'm currently reading Lost In A Good Book becasue I needed to...well, get lost in a good book... (after my last book, Rubbish! Dirt On Our Hands And Crisis Ahead by Richard Girling which was good, but obviously not very story-like..)

I'll treasure my gold star :0) I've not read the Nursery Crime ones, I should really, as I loved his other stuff

They're *very* silly and *very* funny. Perhaps the order I read them in has an affect, but I definitely enjoyed them more than The Eyre Affair. (Mind you I might have missed something of that from not having read Jayne Eyre - but CaterinaAnna did her best to fill the blanks for me).

Oh I don't think you'd have heard of him.

And no, everything in the auction - except maybe the Battenberg Cake - started well out of my price range, let alone finished there..
