Robert E Howard, according to the text, so yeah, same ballpark as Gemmel.
Looks awesome. Very Warhammerish. There needs to be more flintlocks in fantasy.
According to IMDB, it's already been released in France for the Cannes market (presumably that means they showed it there, and that's it), same again in Canada on the 16th for the Toronto film festival, and then it's out in Russia on the 31st December and the Netherlands on 14th January. We'll probably get it around about the same time, I guess.
Ah, Kane's played by James Purefoy... I knew I knew the voice. It's the guy who played Mark Antony in Rome. (He does badass very well.) Interestingly, the promo shot of Purefoy on Wikipedia, in his Mark Antony get-up, has him with a great big scar across his face, which overlaps with the smaller scar he has in the trailer. Wonder if that's a genuine one?
Yeah, I saw that on the Wikipedia page - the adventure they wrote for it was, er, the PCs visiting places that Kane had been and seeing how he'd changed them. It could be an unfair description, as I've never read either the Solomon Kane books or the RPG, but it sounds from that like one of those 'You're Not As Cool As The Licenced Character' games.
