Earthquakes and procrastination, not in that order

Jun 19, 2005 10:35

I've been away from LJ for a couple of weeks due to a drop-dead date for turning in my dissertation proposal--the one I've been mentioning off and on here for months, with all the blown-off previous deadlines, lame excuses and horrendous procrastination. Hence, no reading of the flist and no comments on the entries of my LJ friends (assuming I ( Read more... )

I take it you've been rockin' and rollin' in Southern CA like myself. I was in Loma Prieta in Northern CA back in the day, but these last few weeks have been giving me the willies. My apartment just rattles like crazy. Not fun. Eeps. I wasn't here for Northridge, though. I moved south three years ago. Now every time a truck drives by I jump. Yipes!

I have indeed been rockin' and rollin' in SoCal. I was down here during Loma Prieta (wasn't it during the World Series?), but, alas, I did experience the Northridge quake in '94. Also not fun. We were having major reconstructive work on our condo building at the time, and I was sure the building was going to come down. It made me very jumpy about earthquakes. It's nice to hear I'm not the only LJer with quake-frazzled nerves!

Wheeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee!!!!! You're back!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I wish you luck with it. LJ is nice procrastination time as long as you're not hooked in 5 hours later.
Sorry to hear about the seismic activity - hope it just turns out to be these minor alerts.

I'm only kinda back, but thank you for the whee! Thank you for the good luck wishes. I'm stressed out right now, and being all hopped up on caffeine probably isn't helping. I'm not going to make any hopeful predictions about an end to shaking lest I piss off the Earthquake Gods. :)
