To echo a common sentiment, I found Robin's behavior quite OOC. This was the girl who didn't care at first when she thought Ted had been flirting with a girl at a bar. I was looking forward to Barney and Robin being "bros," and this just felt like major character sacrifice to set up problems for them in the future.
I actually didn't mind their interactions tonight. Part of me is enjoying the fact that Robin got to the crazy-jealous-paranoid stage of their "relationship" so quickly (from 'Ted Mosby, Architect,' I think?). Don't get me wrong, I love to see them just have fun together because that's part of their appeal, and I'm not looking forward to their break-up because their respective sad faces are going to be painful BUT I will enjoy watching them trying to figure out what they mean to each other
( ... )
My prediction - they break up in 7/8 then possibly have sex again at the end of season. Leaving the writers with the rest of the episodes to completely forget BrOTP ever happened.
The only thing that makes me hesitant to agree with you is the spoiler that there's something serious happening on the Mother front in the 100th ep, so I wonder how long the show has left. I don't believe they'll go past season six, and depending on how things play, I could even see season five being the last season. If that's the case, I don't think they'd leave BroTP unresolved like that.
Yes, yes I am terribly pessimistic. Do you remember how much I spazzed over Benefits last autumn because I was predicting they'd get Ted/Robin back together that season?
So don't listen to me. ;-)
Re the longevity of the show, all the actors signed a deal for another three seasons so I'm assuming they're going to carry on as long as they think they can. You could say that the show is now at the height of it's popularity and the writers would be silly to close the book on the mother this season?
Why would they ignore them all together? Yes, we know they're gonna break-up but I think everyone's making a big deal out of this. The strip club thing is one of their stories coming, just like the break-up. We have no idea how it's gonna turn out yet and I trust the writers on this one, they're not gonna ignore them.
Kinda makes me sad to see everyone worked up about all of this, makes me wonder if I'm right to believe it's gonna be okay. We were told their relationship was gonna be a major focal point this season so that's why I'm not worried it's gonna be ignored at all
The popularity of the ship being what it is makes me doubt they're gonna sink it. :)
OK, so I've not watched last nights episode yet but I just wanted to add that in the Atlantic City ep, Robin wasn't too thrilled with Ted going off to the strip club- and that was for what, 28 minutes or something? In fact, she kinda threw Barney some annoyed glances for taking Ted there. So it doesn't sound to OOC for me. :)
I agree. Carter and Craig know what they're doing and they know just how popular Barney/Robin are together. Ultimately, I think everyone, fans and people from the show want these two together. I trust them to make it right
