1. I made my living in the scene shop at Delta College. It was my job to build sets, create props and take care of anything that needed to be done, along with supervising students and teaching stage craft. If I couldn’t fix things, I never would have gotten the job. I learned how to carve wood so I could replace broken chair legs, weave rattan, plus a list of other things.

2. Just about anything. So far, I haven’t had anything I haven’t been able to repair… so far.

3. My dad was a carpenter, electrician and a plumber. We lived with everyone’s handyman. He was also keen on my brother and I learning a trade from him. Mom wanted me to be a secretary like my sister, but I knew where my heart was.

4. See the above. Also John Delaney taught me a lot about stage craft.

5. You mean big or small? Our a/c went out last month, but we called Maintenance for that. I don’t mess with the complex’s things, just our own. Small, I had to make some repairs to a koa wood trivet. Large… hmm, the best I can come up with is re-wrapping a rattan settee for Jeff.

just wondering, the friday five
