Fandom drift, LJ, and a thread to talk about it all

Surgery was the 20th , and I am still feeling sore and exhausted. I'm told that this is gonna last for a few weeks, then get kinda better for months, and should be almost normal in a year. But - good part here - I really think that this is gonna do one helluva lot to get rid of the pain so anything else is worth it ( Read more... )

I'm so glad you're getting better! Here's hoping it continues.

Funny, I love Buffy too, one of my first loves, and I've never gotten over it. One thing that saddens me about fandom is how once something's over, it's no longer as easy to find what you're looking for. Buffy seems to be one of the ones that refuses to die though, which, makes total sense considering its greatness. I'm always willing to hop on board a Buffy train no matter how many other fandoms I love.

As for LJ, yes, I lament its fade into the background. I think one thing is that tumbler is a graphic heavy site, AO3 means you can post your fic there, and blogging is less of a fad than it used to be in LJ's glory days.

Who knows, everything has its time, but I think LJ still has its place in the world.

Exactly - I could make a long list of all the shows I like, which are pretty much what everyone seems to like. But even while I am watching there's a part of me that wonders how Buffy did it so much better. How did Whedon weave so much depth? How did he make me care about everyone?

If I started a Buffy & Angel discussion journal, would you come back more often - just a guess. I don't want moderators and a board - just walking our wits.

I would definitely be a part of such a thing. I'm still lurking around LJ very regularly and that sounds like fun. :)

*gentle hugs* Glad the surgery is over and I sincerely hope it gives you relief and is worth the current discomfort. I've missed you terribly!

I'm not going anywhere and will continue to inflict my pitiful writing on any and all the poor unsuspecting fools who stumble across my LJ. *g*

Inflict away! You can even bondage me if you think I will do it - one piece of limp spaghetti should do the trick! ((gntle hugs and much love))
