I be the tumblr pimp

Nov 09, 2014 20:07

I was reading a terrific story by tabaqui and I impulsively pimped it on my tumblr. Since then I have pimped a few, from various websites. I've been trying to pimp from Ao3, but there are stories that are here that I don't see elsewhere. So - if you don't mind my pimping your story, let me know. I am assuming that those who no longer post but left ( Read more... )

The only thing that makes me leery is that the one and only time I have ever been plagiarized was on tumblr... but I guess it's okay. Thank you for pimping people and thank you for being so considerate. *hugs you lots*

I put the title, name of author, and a link. Sometimes I post a line, or the description from Ao3, or just why I love it. I wouldn't post a story because of plagiarism, just a way to the story if they are interested.

I just want to make sure everyone is comfortable having potential strangers come to their memories, and maybe their journals (depending on set-up). Actually, if you have fiction at another site - that would be good. So many of the followers are teens from all over, and I know they haven't read everything. This way we can revitalize fandom since everyone feels it's saggy, and maybe get some new journals and writers.

G - is your other site still up and running?

Thanks. Yes, you can link to either my LJ or my site. The fic on my LJ is public, so having people visit it is just fine with me. You are such a darling!

Is that normal - that the fic is public? I guess it would a link they can't follow. I've even done that...sigh. Sometimes my level of dumb seems unsurpassable.

I read Tabaqui's story because of your recommendation on tumblr and she was happy to get a new review.

I would so like for writers who've long since left fandom to come back and reviews might do the trick. BUT that's probably not as likely to happen as getting new fans to come read fanfiction is and I guess that would be even better.

For some reason, young people prefer tumblr although it really isn't suited for anything but sharing gifs and pics and recs. Nevertheless there're very active groups on tumblr. These "groups" consist of mostly very young people who try to debate and discuss. I'm too old to understand how it is that they prefer such a lousy media for discussions, but I'm very pleased that the fans are still out there. Lots of them are clearly in school so they are fresh and young and ripe for the fanfiction taking ;)

They will come read stories though - or at least my follower count went up so someone out there is interested. I love tumblr because - pretty pictures & no thought. If a few others broaden their fields - be nice. I'd just like them to see what is out there - both sites and stories. You can lead a horse to water.... :D

I'm fine with it. :) Thank you for taking the time to ask though - very thoughtful of you. It is also very nice of you to pimp the stories. It has been getting very quiet around here.

I'm glad you're fine with it because I pimped you yesterday - on Ao3, the first of the Sire series. :)

It was reading that tabaqui got a review from someone who red the rec on tumblr that made me decide to keep going.
