Still in a state of James Fog!

Jul 10, 2005 20:53

I can't believe it's been a week since the con. I'm still in a state of James Fog (I think David is getting a bit jack of all my ramblings ;) )

I'm too lazy to write another report so I'm going to copy the one I wrote for BS and pasted it

I’ll start with David Fury. What a wonderfully charismatic man he is. He signed the “Helpless” script for me and as both he and Tony were doing personalised signings I had a slip of paper with my name on. He shook my hand and said “Hello Nicola” but he pronounced it “Ni-cola”. I told him it was actually pronounced “Nic-ola” in the good old fashioned English way as I was English. He looked very confused and said that I sounded Australian. When I told him I’d been out here for 34 years he laughed and said “Well damn it you’re Australian not English!”

He was very friendly with all the fans and took so much time talking to everyone that he actually put the con behind schedule! He really seemed to enjoy the whole con experience and was so flattered that people wanted his autograph and to have photos taken with him. I really believe that he didn’t expect all the fuss and attention he received. His family was travelling with him and they were heading up to Uluru (Ayers Rock) after the convention. It was an absolute joy to meet him. He has always wanted to come to Australia (apparently when he was a little boy his parents told him they were moving there and was so excited. He told all his friends he was going but his Mum and Dad were only joking!)

I had my photo taken with him and Chris but Chris has the photo so I will have to get a copy.

Oh, I will just mention one little thing about the Q and A’s. Naturally the topic of fan fic came up and with that of course, the topic of slash. He said that he could understand female slash because that was natural (lol!) but putting the boys together was just wrong! But when someone pointed out all the Angel/Spike innuendoes and asked if it was intentional or by accident he laughed and said of course it was intentional! He then asked (tougue in cheek) if there were any fics written about him. The MoZ girls started shouting out that there could well be some being written after the con and then names started being shouted out such as “Fangel” and “Spury” LMAO!

Now what can I say about ASH. I am totally smitten with the man. That giggle and those eyes. He is sex on a stick IMO. If I can’t have James I’d take Tony in a heart beat!

When I got his autograph on the Saturday (and yes, he did pronounce my name correctly!) I asked him how he was and then said that that was a stupid thing to ask because he must be sick to death being asked that. He said no, it wasn’t stupid; it was nice that people took the time out to ask. He then said it was more important how I was and I told him I was very tired. He gave me a big grin and asked if I’d been partying. I told him I had and said “Good! That’s what these conventions are all about.” When I turned to go he called out “Goodbye party girl!” He was so vibrant and happy, an absolute joy to chat to.

Now before I get to my Sunday meeting with Tony I have to tell you what happened at the James gig on Saturday night. I was in the club with Chris and Louise when Louise grabbed my arm and said that Tony was standing right behind us. We turned around and started chatting to him. It was all very natural, just like chatting to anyone you meet at a pub until Louise’s “foot in mouth” disease reared its ugly head! In her defence I will say that she had had a few drinks and we were very tired. So we’re chatting away when out of nowhere Louise says to Tony “Shouldn’t you be tucked up in bed with a nice cuppa” I was absolutely mortified! She then started babbling on something about people in Somerset being thick! Good God I could have curled up in a ball. I then babbled something and said goodbye and dragged Louise away. When we got back to our hotel room that night I couldn’t stop laughing about the look on poor Tony’s face when she’d made the “cuppa tea” comment. By that stage Louise felt so awful that she’d insulted him. I had a CD that I planned to give to ASH on the Sunday and I’d written a note which was inside the cover. I told Louise that she had to write him an apology on the back. She sat down and wrote out a whole screed along the lines of “People over 50 are aloud to stay out late” and “People in Somerset are not thick” There was a lot of giggling going on in our room at two in the morning!

So on the Sunday I lined up for my autograph from Tony. When I approached the table he looked up and said “Did you go to the gig last … of yes I remember you, you were there!” At first I couldn’t tell if he was mad or not. I told him I wanted to apologise for my girlfriend’s behaviour the previous night and he said “Why, what did she do?” I asked him if he didn’t remember and said “Of course I remember. She said I should be at home drinking tea and that people from Somerset are thick.” I told him that she was really embarrassed about what she’d said to him and that she wanted me to apologise for her. He started giggling and said that he hadn’t taken offence and that he’d found it all really amusing, especially the look on my face! I said that it would be more amusing if I told her that he was angry with her and he said “No! You can’t do that it’s mean!” I said yeah, but it would be pretty funny. He then spied my “Dirty Girl” badge which was pinned to my belt loop (hugs PK) and said “You’re not a Dirty Girl you’re a Naughty Girl! You must promise that you’ll tell her it’s all okay.” I reluctantly agreed and handed him the CD I had for him. He asked me all about the band and said that he couldn’t wait to listen to it. I told him to open it up. He saw my note and read it and said that I was sweet and I told him to turn it over. He started to read what Louise had written and absolutely packed up laughing! It was so precious. I do so love to see a man really laugh.

About an hour later I went to get my photo taken with ASH. When I started to walk up to him he stepped back, pointed at me and started giggling. Then he said “It’s the Naughty Girl!” I was laughing so hard. He put his arm around my waist and just as the photo was being taken he poked me in the ribs! The photo is awful! I look like a crazy woman! LMAO.

I just have to add what a treat it was to hear ASH sing. What a beautiful voice and man can he move - talk about sexy! He sang “I can’t stand the rain”, “Have a little faith in me” and “Sweet Transvestite” I’ll go into it in more detail on my LJ later but it was totally magic.

Now on to our boy! What can I really tell you? He looked gorgeous and he smelt gorgeous! He did seem a little subdued on the Saturday but was more bouncy on the Sunday. For some reason he seemed so tiny! But he looked fit and well. P was in Australia with him which I thought was nice. I don’t know what it is but every time I meet James I get completely tongue tied! Why is it I can chat to ASH like an old friend and James has me completely overawed? It must be the James-fog thing. It’s just not fair! On the Saturday I got a pictured autographed and on the Sunday I got the “Civilised Man” CD autographed. I gave him a CD on the Sunday and I told him it was one of my favourites and he took the time to really look at it and asked if it was an Aussie band - which it was. But apart from that I just stood there grinning like a fan girl! Sad but true. He was lovely at both photograph sessions and the photos came out really well but it was all over in the blink of an eye.

The Saturday night gig was amazing. I wasn’t really sure if I’d be into the music side of it, I just thought I’d be there to perv but I was REALLY impressed. Although (IMO) he doesn’t have a brilliant voice he is certainly talented and the entire crowd really got into it. He seemed pretty relaxed about the whole thing. I haven’t listened to the CD yet but I really think it’s going to become a favourite!

Edit: I have listened to the CD and I love it. My fave would have to be "Smile". I keep listening to it over and over :D

I’m so sorry the James part is so brief but it really is all such a blur. He did look really sexy on the Sunday in his brown shirt *swoon* I had an excellent seat this year - second row, but because my hands shake so badly a lot of the pics are blurry! But quite a few turned out (out of the 100 I took!) so it’s all good

I did have a very interesting chat to James’ body guard on Sunday whilst we were both outside having a smoke (and can tell you, this man was gorgeous too!) He said that James was no different off stage to what he was onstage and what you saw was what he is really like. The body guard was a Buffy/Angel fan too so he was having a great time. Plus he said the fans had been really well behaved so it made his job really easy.

Now, just a couple of things that pop to mind:

David said that Sarah can’t laugh naturally when she’s acting (Well Duh! Just think of the episode “Real Me” and Buffy laughing at Harmony having minions!) Also she can’t run. So the standing joke was having Buffy laughing and running at the same time.

When James was asked who out of the Buffy/Angel cast and crew he would never work with again he spat out the reply “Kelly Manners” No love lost there I think!

James busked with a young lad whilst in Melbourne - wish I'd seen that!

James still hasn't forgiven Sarah for laughing at him during their "love" scenes. He went into therapy afterwards. He also mentioned what a fabulous on screen partner Juliet Landau was. He used to hand her his coat between takes if it was cold and she was always appreciative. He tried doing that with Sarah and she just said "Ewwwww" What a bitch!

Feel free to skip it if you've already read it, (although I have added a couple of little things at the end) and continue on to the

Mr Fury singing the Mustard song!
