INTRODUCTION
The "Bitter orange" of the title is a fruit of the family of the mandarin, but it's so bitter that it's not possible to eat it as it is.
Anyway it's still possible to turn it into marmalade or Ponzu. Moreover, in the Chinese medicine its dried skin is used as a remedy for the stomach and other things, it's an amazing fruit.
Why in Japan "Bitter Orange" is "橙 Daidai"?
An hint of this is hidden in the show.
STORY
A country city of the North Kanto.
Two brothers (Joshima & Kato) born and raised by their dad, a practicing doctor.
An older brother (Joshima) who is helpless at doing anything, neither sport or study, and a younger brother (Kato) who can do everything.
Why such a difference between two brothers?
The older one keeps repeating the year at university and in the end he dropouts.
More than that he can't find a regular job and he suddenly decides to become a singer-song writer.
One day dad and older son have a big fight and the son is disowned.
Few weeks later their mom dies. After his wife's death the man closes his clinic and starts drinking.
The younger son has to go to the near village to live in his school's dormitory.
One day after many time the younger brother, already graduated at university, receives a quick call from home.
"Dad - not good - come home soon"
After 7 years the son goes back home and he finds a scene he couldn't image...
His dad and his disowned brother drinks together having fun.
Once the two sons are with him the father confesses: "I have only 1 month of life".
In the shock of the two sons the father adds: "I already wrote my testament".
The younger brother is sick of the brother who is curious of their father's last will...
The next day the father brings home a mysterious lady (Asami Hikaru) 30 years younger than him. He announce their will to get married.
Is this pure love? Or is it a fraud to swindle the inheritance?
After 7 years the two brothers collaborate to expose the woman's secret. Who will get the father's inheritance?
