So after 4 years in the midwest, lsat night was my first, "get in a basement, and stay away from windows" night. Boy howdy, there was gunna be a tornado. So that's neat. Too bad we had a social psych test to study for and had to do it by candle & flashlight for about 4 hours before I went to bed.

Yep, welcome to Illinois. I wonder if my parents had to drag the dogs down to the basement (they live about 2 hours northeast of Knox). I guess the saint at Corpus didn't protect Galesburg like it was supposed to!

I don't think they should have been affected. The storm was travelling south east from Iowa and Moline.

Apparetnly, nothing touched down in Galesburg, it just came awful close. There was a lot of damage done in Iowa and about 10mi west of the burg. Here the alarms went off twice, we had golfball hail, and nasty winds. So I guess Galesburg being in that valley does help, as much as I cringe to say it.

Hate to break it to you, but if a tornado is going to touch down somewhere, it'll touch down, valley or not. The town just west of my parents' house was hit by a tornado in 2004, and it was in a valley. But ugh - being in the basement of that house must've been disgusting. I guess I was lucky; the sirens never went off while I was at Knox.

Actually, the basement wasn't bad. The door to the room before the chapter room was open, so we had carpeted floor. I'd rather be there than the basement of Exec.
