You know, technically, you're legally obligated to get an IL liscense. You are infact a resident of thsi state now. However, I still ahve a Kansas liscenese, and I've been here over a year.

Yea, but I am keeping my NY address as my permanent address on things like accounts and voting records. I figure I'll be moving around Chicago a lot in the next few years, and until I get settled that I am staying in IL (which sort of remains to be seen), I'll finally switch over. Illegal? Maybe slightly. But who's gonna go after me?

Also out of the loop-
It doesn't say I am under 25, but it is blue, orange and yellow, and no more pink. The paper they sent it with said they were issuing it to people under 25 as part of a "anti-underage drinking inititive called 'Operation Prevent'".

I suppose I wish to know what they are preventing.

P.S. I also really liked that you signed off with a code name. You make me happy.

I think you have a year to establish residency in Illinois. If you don't want to give up your NY license just yet, go to your nearest Secretary of State's office and get an Illinois ID card. That will make check writing a hell of a lot easier. Eventually, you'll need to look into establishing your residency.

I've thought about doing this, but it's not a huge deal. I don't write checks very often, because I have a debit card that makes life easier, so I might get around to it, and maybe not. Like I said to Jake, I don't know how long I'll be in IL, so eventually I might, unless I end up elsewhere.

hallo lady!

I have a new york license (still). i should probably get a mass license. but my ny one doesn't have an "under 25", and since i went there in person to renew it on my 21st birthday i did, in fact, get a new picture.

i think they will charge you if you try to get a new ID- $25 or so?

it might be worth cashing it in and just getting an IL license. I dont understand when or why people should change, other than to make it easier to vote, but blah.

good luck! sport that 16-year-old Heather with pride!

It doesn't say under 25, it just looks strange. It's blue, orange and yellow. No more sporting my pink license. I guess I just can't imagine being an "IL driver". But I suppose it could be worse, I could be considered a Mass. driver.

it' s because the new i.d's came out (i.e. your new license)
so everyone who is under 25 is being sent a new license before they need to renew. all others will receive the new ones when it is time for them to renew. i'm pretty sure its just a security type thing.
and as far as i know ny hasnt switched to the vertical thing.

Thanks. There was talk of it last I heard, but I guess that's no longer. I will say, it's a pretty ugly new license we got ourselves. But the wavy hollogram type thing in the middle is neat.

By the way, how the hell are you? Long time no hear.
