mysterious fluffy things
Kangin/Eunhyuk

The first time Eunhyuk stumbled across one of those stuffed fluffy animals was a month ago, and, well, it was quite literal.

A/N: I had this weird urge out of nowhere to write KangHyuk and suddenly I had an idea for the fic challenge theme (#46, stuffed animals). But to be completely honest, I like the idea I came up with, but I don't like what I did with it. I'll try to do this rare pairing justice another time.

“It was just sitting there, in front of the door,” Eunhyuk’s eyes are on Kangin, because he seems like the only person willing to listen right now. “Again.”
Kangin’s eyebrows go up and then down in their own confused dance. Then he asks himself why he’s so surprised. Fans have done weirder things, really, should they even let themselves he surprised at the fluffy, big-eyed stuffed creatures building up in Eunhyuk’s room?
Okay, maybe they should.
“Do you think it’s Hankyung-hyung?”
“Are you high? Why would he send you these?” Kangin pokes its right eye and they watch it fall over. It hits the ground with a soft squishing noise.
Eunhyuk bites his lip and picks up the weird animal before he tucks it under his arm to bring it into his room, into the place where the other versions of it sleep. The one today is bright pink-very bright pink, with huge green eyes that remind him of limes. Kangin follows him with a hint of worry in his eyes, but he masks it well.
The first time Eunhyuk stumbled across one of those stuffed fluffy animals was a month ago, and, well, it was quite literal. He nearly broke himself tripping over the thing, but thankfully he hadn’t tumbled all the way to the ground. Behind him, Kangin had slipped a firm hand around his wrist, and even though Eunhyuk’s shoulder had hurt from being jerked back so suddenly, he was glad there wouldn’t be a giant bruise marking up his face, or a crick in his neck if he'd landed the wrong way.
It’d been a neon blue, fuzzy variation of what Eunhyuk thought could be a wide-eyed lemur. He remembers that this was the first, because Donghae had shoved it in his face as soon as Kangin had him standing normally. His name had been on it, very clearly, on the tag stitched into the thing’s right leg. He remembers that this was the first, because he’d tucked it away into the back of his closet, but in the middle of the night, it’d wound up under his arm.
The second time he stumbled over one of them, there were two. One red, one green. Christmas colors.
“Again?” Kangin had raised an eyebrow, checking the tags. Sure enough, Eunhyuk’s name in bold, on both of them.
Eunhyuk had stuffed them under his bed as fast as he could. He wanted them tucked away, out of sight for now. If they wanted to appear in his bed in the wee hours of the morning, he’d just have to deal. He just didn’t want their vast, crystal eyes following him around the house.
The third time, and he felt like he was already used to seeing them when he came home. He felt like it hadn't happened enough, or in a frightening enough way for the authorities to get involved. But why did he get chills all over his tired skin whenever one or two of those creepy things would be sitting there in the dim light of the hallway?
It didn’t sit right with him. Still doesn’t.
Kangin is the only other one in the house when he sees a bag, lumpy and stuffed full with what Kangin thinks might be those mysterious fluffy lemur things flies right out Eunhyuk’s room and slams against the door across the hall with an impressive force.
Eunhyuk doesn’t say anything about his actions, and Kangin doesn’t ask. It’s self-explanatory, or at least, it seems like it should be. Neither of them move the bag, it just sits there, until Heechul comes home from wherever he was and he kicks the bag with the tip of his toes, like he’s checking to see if something's living inside.
Kangin isn’t Yesung-he doesn't come into people’s rooms at night to sleep in their beds for a few minutes. But tonight he can hear his own bare feet padding against the smooth wood floor and when he’s more awake he realizes that he’s walking towards Eunhyuk and Kyuhyun’s room, opening the door.
At least one of the occupants in the room is sleeping like a baby. Kangin’s tempted to kick the side of Kyuhyu’s bed while Eunhyuk is tossing and turning, and the maknae is perfectly still, unfazed by the huge population of stuffed animals that seemed to have invaded Eunhyuk’s bed.
Then again, Kangin-although he doesn’t want to admit it-as he looks down at Eunhyuk, thinks that the dancer, through the distressed sleeping face, is pretty much an adorable mass of muscles and bones. He doesn't have much else on his body. Well, except for clothes.
Eunhyuk comes to quickly, “Hyung?”
“You okay?”
Bony fingers twist into the sleeve of Kangin’s sleep shirt. “They won’t leave me alone…”
“What…the fucked up lemur things?”
“Yessssss,” Eunhyuk’s eyes widen in the dark, to exaggerate his answer. Or maybe this is as normal as he can be.
Kangin is quiet, he listens to Eunhyuk’s tiny whimpers and he wonders what the young dancer would do if Kangin were to start patting the top of his head, soothing like a mother, like the way Leeteuk would do it, or the way Hankyung would do it. He thinks that might be weird, but weird is something that Eunhyuk is probably used to by now, after all this time spent sleeping around sketchy stuffed animals.
Instead, Kangin takes the creatures two by two and tosses them away, he shoves some off, and when the bed is clear, he sits down on the edge of the mattress and wraps the skinny boy in his arms.
“…Hyung?”
“Shut up and go back to sleep.”

Tired. I'll do the other tags later.
