…and that's the only reason I'm posting it without finishing it. After 500 words, I wasn't sure what I was doing with it. The more I try to make sense of it, the more I just fail and it's making me sad lol so I'm going to share it with you now! And if you think it makes sense, please give me some tips as to how I could possibly finish it! Or if it feels finished to you (for some odd reason), let me know this, too, and I'll share with

So, readers, I give to you Double-crosser (aka, the SiHanToria that never made sense)
Premise: the lives of childhood friends Siwon, Victoria, and Hankyung throughout their tough years of falling in love with each other, or letting each other go, of all the things that happen in between.
Rating is probably PG, I'm not sure. It's 2505 words ^_^
I got the initial inspiration from
Metric's Grow Up and Blow Away. Oh, and it's possible, only sort of, that I'll come back and edit this piece, maybe add more, and either repost, or announce that I fixed it up. Idk if I will, though. I hope you still like it!
double-crosser
grow up, and blow away
“You lied to me,” her five-year-old eyes are burning, stinging with tears when she says this to him. “You said you would play with me today.”
The threshold of his front door feels like the dividing bar of water between South Korea and China. There’s no way around this-he knows he’s lied to her. He’d promised, come over on Saturday, we can have fun! And he would call over two more of his friends, and they would all play together, they’d arrange themselves around the game and play four square, cops and robbers, hide-and-seek, all until his parents called them inside to rest and finally eat something.
It’s only been three years of knowing each other, but out of five years of living, it feels like an entire lifetime.
He watches Victoria run away, her cries disappear down the street, her pretty blue dress kicks up behind her, above her ankles, brushing her young and slim legs. And he tells himself that this is the last time he’ll ever lie to her. The first and last.
But it’s a lie, too.
You’re the reason I fell in love with him.
There are days when Han Geng wants to reach underneath the table and grab the hand that’s resting on her knee. He just wants to touch her. Those days are usually Tuesdays, sometimes Saturdays, now invading Mondays and Sundays.
There are days when Victoria wants to put her fingers to his face, or lean her head against his shoulder and feel his arm pull her closer. She wants these gestures to mean more than they already do. Those days are usually Wednesdays and Fridays, sneaking into Thursdays.
There are days when Siwon doesn’t know which one is which anymore-Victoria or Han Geng?
Those days are losing the space between them, slowly.
Why are you crying?
My best friend lied.
…I’m sorry.
No, it’s not your fault.
But, I’m still sorry.
You’re nice.
You’re really pretty.
Th-Thank you…
You’re blushing!
Am not!
Are too!
…
I’m Han Geng. Are you Chinese, too?
Yeah! I’m Song Qian.
I like you, Qian. We should be friends.
…I like you, too, Geng.
Victoria wears a pretty blue dress on the day of their junior high school graduation, and it reminds Siwon of her favorite dress when they were younger. They’re over at his house, because a conjoined junior high grad party would always be exciting to both pairs of parents. It’s especially true if it saves money, even when one side of the party planning is disgustingly wealthy.
She smiles at him, over her shoulder, when Han Geng is taking off his shoes at the front hall of the house, his mother in front of him. Siwon gets there first, and Victoria stays back to mingle with their guests, back straight, smile turned on medium high power. Party hostesses are supposed to be beautiful, and presentable, welcoming.
When Han Geng approaches her, he gives three taps to her smooth shoulder, and he spins her into a hug. It’s hug that's too long, long enough that Victoria can feel Siwon’s gaze hitting both of them hard, like boulders.
When they were eight, Siwon stole one of her dolls and gave it to his sister. It was only so she’d stop crying-Siwon didn’t mean to make Victoria cry, not again. Stealing may not be the same thing as lying, but when he sees the sadness dwelling in her round eyes as she copies multiplication tables at school the next day, he feels like it’s just as bad.
“Jiwon-ah, I need that back.”
“Why?”
“Because it's not yours.”
“Y-You gave it to me!”
“It’s not mine, either. It’s Victoria’s,” he tells the truth. “I took it from her so you could have it.”
Jiwon sniffles, but she hands it over, shaking slightly. “You-You shouldn’t t-take thing from Unnie, Oppa. She w-won’t play with me anymore if she d-doesn't like you.”
Siwon doesn’t know how to tell her that would never be the case.
Siwon, Siwon!
Ah, hi Hyung!
I just met this super pretty girl.
Oh?
Yeah!
Does she go to your school?
No, I haven’t seen her there before. I think she’s younger than me.
Maybe I know her. What's her name?
Qian.
…
What’s wrong?
Um, Hyung, don’t hang out with her.
…Why?
Please, just don’t.
Siwon remembers that day, and he remembers it in the middle of studying for finals. Randomly. He recalls that he wanted to say she’s my pretty friend, not yours and maybe you’re my friend, not hers too, but that would’ve been too selfish. He’d left it at that, he’d let it be. But if he'd stopped it, maybe all three of their lives could've been easier. Siwon never would’ve had much of a chance to complicate them.
It’s weird watching her grow, watching her turn into a woman. She’s not just pretty anymore, not just cute anymore, she’s damn attractive.
The other boys know this, and Siwon wants to shelter her from their devious eyes at school, wants to glare at them and bark-that last part he leaves out. Han Geng knows this, and it’s easier for him to sneak looks at Victoria, because they’re such close friends and maybe she doesn't think much of it. Han Geng isn’t a predator, he’s not a hormonal teenage boy anymore. But Victoria is gorgeous.
Siwon finds it’s hard to glare at Han Geng because it’s Hankyung-hyung, and Siwon admits to staring as well, admits to no one except himself and God. And he’ll ask for forgiveness for wondering what it’d be like to kiss Victoria’s neck when it’s stretched back and her hands are clutching his skin desperately and wantonly.
And he’ll really ask for forgiveness when his Hankyung-hyung is the one he wants to kiss.
And that could be soon.
When she’s sixteen, she gets asked out on a date by Lee Hyukjae, this awkward (Siwon thinks) boy the same age that asks out of the blue. And Victoria says yes, not entirely sure of her mind’s reasoning. But she has fun, they go out a few times, share a few kisses and ice cream cones and Victoria decides to end it one night in July. She calls Han Geng to talk about it, and Siwon hears through that short grapevine between the three of them.
“They almost did it.”
Siwon is silent. He blinks.
“Siwon?”
“She almost did what?”
“It.” Sex.
“Oh,” and he wonders why Han Geng is the one telling him this.
“She said she’d have a hard time telling you, so I said I would if she wanted. And then she said okay. You guys are really close, so I kind of thought it'd be unfair if I knew and you didn’t.”
“Thanks, hyung,” and he wonders why he’s saying thank you.
“No problem. But basically, that’s why they ended it. She realized she didn’t want to, and he was uncomfortable, too. God, this feels awkward. Um, let’s talk about something else.”
“Please,” Siwon almost laughs.
“How’s school?”
“Good, good. You, hyung?”
Han Geng breathes in, and begins with his anecdote, Siwon listens and nods and laughs and his mind trails off to Victoria. And Han Geng. And Victoria and Han Geng.
He kisses Han Geng on a movie night between the three of them, when Siwon is seventeen and Han Geng is twenty. Victoria is making popcorn when it happens, the two boys are picking out what to watch, and it just sort of…happens.
Siwon holds the video in his hand and they’re both crouching in front of the TV, the lights are already off. The only path of light comes from the screen, and from the kitchen. And Siwon just does it. Goes for it.
Han Geng kisses him back, with the same gentle force but then they break apart and nothing fills the silence flooding between them. Siwon puts the tape into the player and Han Geng goes to Victoria.
They don’t want to talk about it. Even when they have so much to say.
The first time she ever screams at him is when they’re eighteen, moving out of their homes and into dorms. It’s the first time they’re going to go to different schools, and Siwon doesn’t want to admit it, but he’s angry.
Only because she’s going to the same school as Han Geng. He should’ve seen this coming. Sometimes he wants to ask Victoria if she only applied to the city’s Dance Academy to be with Han Geng, to hang out with him minus Siwon.
Wait, that would just be ridiculous, wouldn't it?
“You’d be good at other things, too. Like…” Siwon fishes for something to say. Don't go there, Victoria, don’t go to the same school as him. You’ll only be further away from me, both of you will be. “Singing! You’re good at that, too.”
“But I’m better with dancing,” she argues, taking the faded pink ballet shoes from her closet and laying them on top of the clothes she's taking with her. “Is there something more you’re trying to hint at? I know you too well.”
“You do.”
“Siwon, is something wrong?” she puts her hair in a ponytail, looks at Siwon through a mirror. “At least I’m not going as far away as the Beijing Dance Academy.”
It doesn’t matter, not to him. “I don’t want you to go to the same school as Hankyung-hyung.”
Her hands come down from her hair, slowly as she still stares at his reflection. “What?”
“You-”
“No! No-okay, I know you get jealous if I hang out with anyone besides you, Siwon, but this is Han Geng! Of all people, you don’t want me to be with at school, it's Ge?”
“Because it’s him.”
“You don’t make any sense!”
“Vic-”
“Whenever I tell you I went somewhere with Han Geng, you have some kind of meltdown inside! I can see it. And I feel like I have to sneak around with one of my own best friends. That’s not how it should be, Siwon!”
“Victoria,” he’s somehow ended up behind her, she’s resting her hand against the frame of the mirror, looking down at her feet. She doesn't want to look at him, and he knows she’s not just angry. Her eyes are reddening, and it’s his fault…again. “I’m sorry.”
It’s easy to forget which one is which, even when they’re two different genders, two different people, Siwon doesn’t know which one he’s holding onto now-which one whose arm he has in his strong grasp.
“Siwon, stop-you’re hurting my arm-ow-”
It’s easy to forget which one’s which, so Siwon grabs onto the person in front of him and kisses them, painfully so, pressing them against his own body. He’s crushing them, but all he wants is to be closer. It’s unfair that they’re so alike, he wants to be with them, the two of them, he doesn't want to be separate.
“Stop! Stop, stop, let go!” it’s Victoria, and she’s screaming into his ear, she’s struggling underneath him, it’s all clear to him, but he’s stunned and he doesn’t know what he’s supposed to do.
She does it for him; she pushes him off and somehow stumbles her way to collapsing sideways on the foot of her bed. Siwon inches closer, sees that her face is red, and wet.
“Victoria-”
“Get out!”
Siwon has never been this completely still in his lifetime.
“Get out!” she screams, and Siwon’s ears are splitting.
He trips down the stairs and out the front door, doesn’t stop to pet the cat on his way out. As he begins to drive off, he catches Han Geng’s car in the rearview mirror, but Siwon knows he shouldn’t stop. Why make things worse?
His chest burns on the ride home. Burns, and aches.
(Living without the both of them would be like trying to live without food and water. It’s dramatic, but Siwon knows it’s true. It’s scary how true it really is.)
The front door is open when Han Geng parks his car. It’s swinging lightly, as if whoever used it had just left. He quickly locks his car and jogs to the threshold, peeks in.
“Qian?” no answer. “Victoria?”
The trip up the staircase is nearly silent, punctuated softly with sniveling that he can just barely hear. He pushes her door open more, enough to see her body curled up close to the edge of her bed.
“Qian?”
As his hand brushes her shoulder, she yelps and pushes him away, and she’s trembling like the monster of her nightmares came right from her dream sequences. But then her eyes reach his, coming out from behind her fingers, brown orbs wide and drenched.
“Han Geng…Han Geng-ge…”
He’s almost afraid to touch her again, wondering if she’ll be too frightened if he does. So he keeps his hands at his sides, ghosting against the bedsheets. “What-did-did something happen?” his hand changes location, hovers between himself and the redness on her arm, an early bruise is what it seems to be. “Are you alright?”
And her arms are around him before he can process their warmth, their tightness, their distress. She holds him so close to her that he can feel every ragged breath, every single one until he’s holding her back as firmly as he can without squeezing, until she calms down.
Victoria is still in his arms, limp like one of her old dolls, but they never stop holding each other. The storm’s passed, it feels like, and Han Geng starts to smooth the stray hairs that have crowded her face. Her nose is still pink.
“Qian, tell me what’s wrong,” he urges, nudging her. “Just tell me.”
But in the end, she doesn’t tell him, and she doesn’t think she ever will. Siwon had crossed the line, but Victoria knew better-she knew that he was just troubled, and he needed love and attention to fix him. Most of all, he needed Han Geng’s love and attention, a hyung that cares and knows how to talk to him, a hyung that knows just what to say and just what to do and that is exactly what Han Geng is. Victoria knows this, and decides it's best to forgive Siwon, best to move on from even some of the largest of bumps in the road.
What happened would always remain a secret she’d share with Siwon. Painful secrets are still etched, even when somewhat easily forgiven. A few days after, they make up with a long hug and they have lunch together. Best to put it behind them.
They’re seven and ten.
You know, Qian, when we get older, we could get married.
Okay! But wait, Ge…what about Siwonnie?
He can marry you, too. And me. We’ll all get married.
That’s against the law, Ge.
So?
Victoria thinks about it, but it doesn't take her long. Okay!
And when we’re all together, we can’t lie. Got it, Qian?
Yeah, no lying!
They couldn’t wait to run to Siwon and tell him the news.
They could always be together.

I like this ot3 :D
I really wish this could be better, but part of me likes it anyway. Maybe I'll be really bored one day and I'll have nothing better to do than work this into undeniable completion!
