A/N: my title makes me feel witty. also, I've had this QMi in the works for months, but it was one of those WIPs I haven't been willing to give up on…even when I've given up on others orz -- dedicating this to just_dropit  because without her, this wouldn't have been finished for a long time, haha.

They catch an evening flight. The opportunity for them to jump on a 4am plane that morning had been there, but single glance at Kyuhyun's deadpanning face was enough to tell Zhou Mi that 4am would definitely not work. He settles for a 7pm instead. Much more reasonable. Later, but reasonable.

Zhou Mi is trying to absorb as much Japanese as possible, but so far all he can remember is how to greet someone, and how to ask where the bathroom is. A few minutes after he's slammed his head into the small book, Kyuhyun tells him it's not possible to learn a language through osmosis. Zhou Mi just pulls the pages off his face and grins at him.

The flight attendants start doing their safety dance. Well, routine. Kyuhyun makes fun of them in his head the whole time, and Zhou Mi can just tell. Mind reading works very well when you've been someone's manager for three years and a close friend (i.e., bandmate) even before that.

Soulmate would be on the list, too, if Kyuhyun's soul weren't so hard to see most of the time.

Their flight gets delayed, though, and Zhou Mi spends fifteen minutes on the phone after learning of the fact, only getting in one minute of talk time. The other fourteen are spent being screamed at. "Next time this happens…" but there's never a threat anymore. Because they've come to a point where they accept it, the fact that as long as Kyuhyun still wants Zhou Mi around, Kyuhyun is going to have Zhou Mi around. And even after he might not, Zhou Mi will still be there, because Kyuhyun is convinced that he's the best possible. Despite the few slip ups present.

Zhou Mi is a good manager. Zhou Mi just isn't made out of perfection, but no one is. Kyuhyun uses this as extra ammo whenever the company wants to give their "suggestions."

Besides, most of the time, those little accidents are Kyuhyun's fault in the first place. Like this one. With this delay, they'll probably get there with just enough time to catch a few hours of a nap before schedules start. The 4am plane had landed on time. Kyuhyun could have slept the whole day after they arrived.

Zhou Mi knows it's better not to mention that last part, though.

Not too long into the flight, Kyuhyun falls asleep, pillow pressed to the window. He starts to slide forwards and away from his cushion, but Zhou Mi stops him. Kyuhyun doesn't wake up, though. Instead he twitches a little, and brushes at his nose.

Zhou Mi remembers when the man next to him had bushy hair, hair that Zhou Mi would tuck behind his ears or pull back over his forehead when he wanted to bug the guy. Two--there were two times when the bushy hair made an appearance. But Kyuhyun always wanted it shorter, in the end. Sometimes he just didn't care. Now he cares. He cares for reasons Zhou Mi doesn't know.

Times have changed.

There'd also been a time when Kyuhyun would have chosen Zhou Mi's shoulder as a pillow. Zhou Mi wondered why that hadn't escalated when he'd signed up to be the guy's manager, when they spent even more time together than Super Junior M times could allow.

Why have so many things changed?

"Kuixian," Zhou Mi taps him on the arm when the food cart starts to roll down the aisles. "Kuixian, are you hungry?"

Twitching again, Kyuhyun opens his eyes, vision slightly foggy. The sleep he'd gained for the past twenty minutes had been a tease.

"Seriously?" he asks.

Zhou Mi sighs. "Yes, seriously. Food is good. Eat some."

"I'll eat when I get hungry."

"You'll be hungry by the time we land. And then we won't have time to get anything because it'll be three in the morning and we'll have to get to our hotel so you can sleep more," Zhou Mi says. "Rehearsal with Taeyeon is at nine, but if I pull some strings, I might be able to get a 9:30 start."

Kyuhyun's face remained blank, staring at him.

"10am? That, Kuixian, would be called pushing it."

The singer folds his arms over his chest

Zhou Mi almost laughs. "It doesn't matter if you and Taeyeon are in the same company. She's already in her hotel, sleeping. Her manager and I talked before you and I took off. She went on the 4am flight."

"Then why is she sleeping now?" Kyuhyun grumbles.

"Because she got to spend time around Tokyo all day. Which you and I could have done."

Kyuhyun nods, although Zhou Mi knows that it's only Kyuhyun's special sarcastic kind of nod. His eyes are rolling. Zhou Mi wants to pinch him, but he keeps his hands to himself. Plus, he needs to remain the mature one here. No one wants to see two grown men yelping and pinching.

"We can spend some time around Tokyo another time," he says.

"When would that be?" asks Zhou Mi.

Kyuhyun pauses. "Sometime."

Zhou Mi smacks him with a magazine from the seat pocket. Only one more hour left. And a half.

When they finally arrive, it's a little past three in the morning, and Kyuhyun is barely hanging off Zhou Mi's arm, trying to stay awake. His right eye is trying to stay vigilant, while the left wants to tumble south for bedtime.

"Didn't you sleep for the last hour of the flight?"

"Yes, but when I had to get up, it ruined what I'd gained."

"Fine," Zhou Mi puffs out his cheeks when he sighs. "Let's just get our bags. I'll tuck you in soon," he says as he pats his friend's arm.

"Thank goodness."

The hotel is a nice one. According to the message left on Zhou Mi's phone, Taeyeon's room is three doors to the right. Her manager's is across the hall, and Zhou Mi starts to think about when to call--about changing the rehearsal time. Or just talk in person.

He helps Kyuhyun through the door, who by now is half asleep. One of his arms is heavy and pulled around Zhou Mi's shoulders. Zhou Mi barely has a good grip on himself, and gravity seems to have gotten stronger.

Dragging his feet, he puts Kyuhyun down on the twin bed as gently as he can.

"I am picking your pajamas for you, and you are not going to make a fuss."

Kyuhyun makes some kind of incoherent noise, and Zhou Mi chooses to ignore him.

"Who am I kidding? You're too tired."

"I'm hungry," Kyuhyun mumbles in Chinese. Zhou Mi laughs, his eyes aren't as heavy now that a memory of those good times is rolling in the front of his mind. The difference is that there aren't any Taiwanese fans laughing along with him, and Han Geng isn't chuckling along, it's quiet and there's no MC either. No cameras. Funny how a simple phrase can take someone back four years.

Zhou shakes his head, unzipping Kyuhyun's suitcase and pulling out a loose t-shirt he's seen Kyuhyun napping in before. He unzips Kyuhyun's sweatshirt and drags the sleeves away from his arms, then moving on and lifting Kyuhyun's old shirt up over his head. Kyuhyun is barely motivated enough to lift his arms, but Zhou Mi has had experience with an overly tired Kyuhyun before.

"Kuixian, I'm taking your pants off now."

"Mmf."

"So don't get excited or anything."

A leg swings around and nails Zhou Mi in the side. Laughing, Zhou Mi stands back up straight and does the job, Kyuhyun's eyes opening when his jeans get dragged down.

"Now do you want me putting on your pajama pants for you, or can you be the big boy you are and take care of it yourself?"

"Shut up and hand me my pants."

Zhou Mi shrugs. "Whatever you say," and he throws the flannel at Kyuhyun's face. He thinks maybe he heard a muffled 'thanks' but it's Kyuhyun, so who knows. "Get some good sleep, okay? For me."

"Fine," Kyuhyun nearly hides himself underneath the thin hotel bedding. Zhou Mi stands over him and tugs the top down a little, so he can see Kyuhyun's face again.

"No suffocation."

Kyuhyun narrows his tired eyes. "Goodnight."

"Go to sleep," Zhou Mi says.

There's someone invading his bed. His personal space. Then again, Zhou Mi doesn't really care about that kind of 'bubble' the way other people he knows do. Kyuhyun is one of those people. So why is Kyuhyun awkwardly climbing into Zhou Mi's bed?

"What are you doing?" Zhou Mi starts to sit up, reaching for the light switch, but Kyuhyun stops him.

"Stop complaining."

"It's," Zhou Mi looks at the clock, "FIVE?"

Kyuhyun grunts when Zhou Mi's elbow accidentally gets him in the side. "I just told you to stop complaining."

He doesn't know why, but he does, relaxing into his pillow again.

"I just," Kyuhyun breathes, "wanted to. That's why I'm in your bed, okay?"

"Okay."

They stay silent for a moment, and Zhou Mi starts to close his eyes, ignoring the fact that one of his legs is starting to slip off the edge. He slips an arm around Kyuhyun absentmindedly, like a memory. Kyuhyun tenses, and that's when Zhou Mi opens his eyes.

"Do you ever miss Super Junior?" Kyuhyun asks, not brushing the arm away as Zhou Mi figured he might.

Zhou Mi feels as if the wind's been knocked out of him. But he finds the air he needs to answer anyway. "Of course."

"Just checking."

The bed shakes a little as the space between them starts to decrease, Kyuhyun's eyes closing. Zhou Mi says nothing, arm growing warm where it connects with Kyuhyun's waist.
