A/N: because Khuntoria would do so well with a kid (
GIVE THE FOREIGNERS A BABY), and Jokwon agrees with me. and also because it's Victoria's birthday and I don't have school today so I could actually finish this! HAPPY BIRTHDAY, VICTORIA ♥ this is also partially for
13fireflies because she also agrees with me and we were talking about how cute they would be with children. this isn't the best, but it's be best I could pull off at the moment, haha. oh, and behind the cut is a cute Asian child :3
Then Comes Baby
They've been given two darlings. Victoria feels as if this has turned into Hello Baby, but reminds herself that they could've gotten four little ones like Alex and Shinae. She's a mother at heart, and it comes naturally, but she's already got her four teenage babies back at the f(x) dorm. Amber is coming over to help babysit later; a surprise We Got Married appearance for the viewers and Nichkhun, but not a surprise to Victoria.
Nichkhun will come home after filming for another program and will find Amber standing tall and proud, like she's kept this a secret for too long, and both women will be laughing beautifully. Nichkhun will think so, anyway, at least about Victoria. She isn't sure if he's been able to see the beauty in Amber. He's been well-acquainted with Victoria's other three children, but Amber he hardly knows. How would he react? What kind of silly subtitles would they put around his face on the screen?
A boy and a girl. They've been synthetically blessed with a bouncing baby boy and a charming little lady. Victoria wishes on sight that they were actually married and that this was a normal day, and the three year old twins were being dropped off at home by the nice neighbors whose children attend the same school. She is going to miss them like Minho misses Yoogeun, and she already knows it.
"How old are you?" Nichkhun asks while they're all sitting on the couch and he's got the girl, Hyo-eun in his lap. She smiles and holds up three fingers.
They spend that first day getting to know each other, their faces hurting from all the giggling and grinning. The boy, Sanghoon has already taken a liking to Victoria. "Umma!" he shouts, excited, as if he's already been her fan when f(x) has been in existence longer than he has.
One Tuesday morning, the cameras are already there. Victoria answers the door, clad in flannel pajama pants, Nichkhun's hoodie, and Minnie slippers, and gives the camera an embarrassed smile. "Nichkhun is still asleep," she tells the camera. "The babies are waking up already."
She wakes him up using the kids. It's more like as soon as she walks in, they start jumping up and down on the bed, sitting on Nichkhun, poking him, and laughing in his ear in loud bursts. Victoria is almost sure she's never felt happier.
Amber has decided that Sanghoon is going to be an idol someday. "He's already got the face for it!"
"Yah, what about Hyo-eun?" Victoria asks. "She likes dancing."
"Of course, her, too," Amber grins and makes faces at Sanghoon. They're best friends already. "Hyo-eunnie will be a star. She'll be all elastic-ey like you, Vic."
As she looks over, Victoria notices that the camera is also panning towards where Hyo-eun is asleep, on the couch. "Don't blow too many bubbles, Amber!" Suddenly her oldest "daughter" has obtained the bottle from somewhere. No doubt, she probably bought it on the way, thinking she could annoy Krystal with it later, but decided it was better to use for the baby's benefit.
"Why not? He likes them!"
She wants to laugh, but smiles and sighs instead. "You're a bad influence."
Amber isn't really listening. "Hey-hey, Vic-no, Umma, can we go to an amusement park together?"
Victoria feels like she's going to topple over. "Right now?" To make things even more interesting, the front door opens.
"No, not right now," Amber sighs, exasperated, as if she's the one who ended up babysitting three kids today. "Later-oh, who's that? Oh!"
Victoria scoops up Sanghoon and shoves the cap on the bubble bottle before Amber accidentally knocks it over in her rush to stand. The younger woman leaps to her feet and grins widely at her friend. There are footsteps coming towards the living room.
"Appa?"
The footsteps stop.
"Uh, welcome home!" Victoria's grin mimic's Amber's.
Amber stands up straight like a good girl when Nichkhun rounds the corner. "Oh, finally, we meet! Hello! I'm f(x)'s Amber."
"This is our last daughter," says Victoria. Somehow, she feels less nervous than when she first introduced her teenage babies to her TV husband. Maybe it's because Amber has her own frightening qualities with which Victoria knows how to deal with better than the other three. Amber is perpetually laidback, an easy-going force of nature for the most part, and unlike most other girls.
Nichkhun is smiling, the camera is on him, and in his eyes both the girls can see a mix between shock and happiness. Like he'd been hoping this day would come, although he'd also been very, very scared of when and how. "Hello. It's nice to meet you. I'm Nichkhun."
"I know," Amber is smiling, too, though hers is smug.
"There's no list this time, is there?" he chuckles.
Immediately, Amber starts to laugh. "I saw that episode!" Probably on YouTube.
"Amber is safe. Safer," Victoria corrects, handing Sanghoon off to Nichkhun.
They both look at her, and outside, Amber is doing her best to come off harmless. It's all part of her charm, though, that she has a devilish twinkle in her eye. The rest of the day is a blur they can only remember in polaroid pictures and bragging text messages sent to the 2pm and f(x) members who missed out.
Hyo-eun is good at the NU ABO dance. She learns fast. Sanghoon likes to watch and likes being fascinated by the way his new mother can move. He is innocently in love with her; her biggest fan. Long after they are separated, he will remember her. The boy loves the way his new father takes care of them. Nichkhun doesn't think that Sanghoon is actually listening when he gives a father-son speech about being nice to woman, treating them as equals yet still protecting them because they are still fragile, even Big Sis Amber.
Sanghoon still nods, even when Nichkhun isn't sure it all sank in properly. He will remember this conversation when he is a real man like Nichkhun. He will remember everything and someday thank him, on national television, when he and Hyo-eun are famous.
Off camera, he asks: "If we actually had children, what language would we teach them?"
Victoria is putting Hyo-eun's hair into two braids. When he is speaking, she looks at her husband. When she is speaking, she stares into their daughter's pretty black hair. "Chinese."
"Oh? Even in Korea?"
"Well…" Victoria finishes the second braid, pulling a band from her wrist and tying it up carefully. She is worried about being too rough, but knows she can handle it. She's used to playing with Sulli's hair. "I want them to be able to speak with my parents."
Nichkhun nods. Sanghoon is asleep, his head like a warm weight on Nichkhun's leg. "What about Thai?"
"Of course," this time, she looks at him. "They need to be able to communicate with your family, too. What kind of daughter-in-law would I be not letting them speak to both their grandparents?"
He smiles, and then she breaks his gaze, her expression coy as she pats Hyo-eun on the head and stares at their muted TV screen. "Language is a tricky thing."
"Yeah."
"What about English?"
"Hm. If they want to, they can. They don't have to."
"Korean?"
"Will we still be living in Korea when we have kids?"
Nichkhun turns quiet again, his hand comes across as huge when pressed paternally against Sanghoon's shoulder. "I don't know. Will we?"
"Maybe we should move to Thailand."
"Or America?"
Victoria laughs. "Then they would have to learn English. We shouldn't have to force them!"
They both pause, locking gazes. "How many are we talking about here?" he asks, an eyebrow lifting casually. At the same time, his heart pounds relentlessly inside his chest. "Two?"
"Two is a good number," Victoria eyes the two they currently have. And then she thinks about the four she has back at her dorm. She suddenly feels the weight of a single mother; she has to remind herself that she won't always be single. Someday she will actually be married, she was meant to be a mother, and they all know it. That's why she's called "umma"-it isn't all just for show.
"We already have four," he's on the same page. "We could easily handle two."
Then it hits her. "Nichkhun-ssi, why are we talking like this?"
He pretends to think about it for a while. In reality, it's been on Nichkhun's mind for days, weeks, almost a month. "Because there are many possibilities. Whether you will always be my wife or not, I need to know that you'll be okay." Because I'll always feel this way about you.
"Thank you." She always says it, but she always means it. "Babo Nichkhun."
