fall like parachutes {theme #92}

Jan 23, 2010 22:53

Fandom/Pairing; Hankyung/Key
SJ100FC Theme; #92, Gorgeous {writer's choice}
Rating; G
Summary; Wonderful isn't the same as beautiful, but it doesn't have to be-because you're already gorgeous.
A/N; Written because I love Geng & Key. For some reason, I write a more broken form of Key best, compared to the diva version. I don't see this as him being out of character, it's just a different side of him that we don't see. But I understand completely if you think it's OOCness.
Word Count; 508

Fall Like Parachutes

“I’m ugly.”

“You’re not,” the older voice whispers, like wind through blades of grass.

Hankyung gently runs his fingers through the young man’s hair-his touch is as light as butterflies. Key couldn’t be more wrong, even if he tried, and Hankyung needs to find a way to tell him.

“You’re not,” Key sighs. His back is starting to hurt in the chair-it’s so solid and cold and unforgiving. He finds solace with his scalp under Hankyung’s hands, so he leans against the touch.

Key’s eyes flutter to a close, and he takes a deep breath. He smells Hankyung’s scent in the air-it’s something one could never describe perfectly, because it was so unique and wonderful. It reminds Key of calm summer days, bright spring mornings, snowflakes cascading through the hair. How one man could remind Key of all that astounds him.

“I’m so…”

“If you say that again, I’ll-” but Hankyung doesn’t have a threat. One hand is smoothing out the wrinkles in Key’s t-shirt, while the other continues settling short hairs from being out of place. Key is perfect, and he needs to know that. Hankyung needs to make him know that, but he’s not sure how.

Key’s mouth stays open, yet no words leave. They stay behind his chords, like they’ll be disciplined if they come out in the open.

“You’re wonderful,” Hankyung’s thumb grazes one of Key’s earlobes, a tiny yet affectionate touch. “So wonderful.”

“Wonderful isn’t the same as beautiful.”

“It doesn’t have to be.”

But I want it to be. Key bites back his thoughts. Because when you say I’m wonderful, I believe you, hyung.

The hands are suddenly gone, and Key feels like he’s in a room with no doors. He’s never felt so lost-he’s never felt this way. It scares him beyond belief.

He’s only settled when Hankyung comes into his field of vision again, when the man is smiling like he’s so proud of Key.

“You’re gorgeous,” Hankyung crouches in front of Key, hands against the younger man’s knees that suddenly feel so fragile under his touch.

The teenager in front of him is slowly breaking down, behind walls of skin and bones and a blank expression. Hankyung doesn’t need to see it physically to know it’s happening. He holds his arms out, like a bird showing off its wingspan, and he’s not sure what to expect. But this is his offering.

The acceptance shines through, and walls are crushed as Key lets himself fall from the chair, right into the open wingspan-into Hankyung’s arms.

“I’m not ugly,” he mutters into the man’s shoulder. “I’m not, I’m not.”

“You’re not,” Hankyung shakes his head and this broken young man as tightly as he can.

Key’s tears soak their way through his skin and through his stage makeup, and through Hankyung’s shirt. Tears can make a person look horrible, but Key can’t seem to feel that way.

He’s beautiful, and he always will be. He’s gorgeous, because Hankyung knows exactly what to say to make him believe-to make him understand.

This is one of the many things I'll be posting tonight. Writing makes me feel better and helps me cope with things, and I was in such a terrible mood not too long ago. I also thought it'd be good to knock off one or more themes from the fic challenge
