i've long brooded over these musical concepts and have always wondered whether one or the other comprise/s the other/s. in other words, if one were to dissect or place them on a venn diagram, which would rule over the other or which would equate as one. i know there are probably technical definitions for these concepts, but my curiosity stems even

how do you quantify "essence", legally, when it comes to created song work? may kinalaman rin ba yan sa definition ng song bilang lyrics AND music?

bilang case in point: yung "pinoy ako, pinoy tayo" ng o&l vs. yung pinagkuhaan ng music niya. yung lyrics niya, orig naman talaga, so does that make for a new song?

eh yung, i would assume problema ni aston barrett (w/o reading up on it yet, ha): the musical hook in a pop song vs. lyrical hook. saan doon ang songwriting? sino ang nagdadala, in a pop song production context?
