Took two full Post-Its of notes on this one. (I rarely have time to watch at home anymore, so this has become a lunch-hour event a couple of days a week.) The one I posted this morning is from last week, I haven't doubled up days yet.
I've been waiting to get to this one (though I wasn't sure which it was) because I saw something--maybe a bit of an interview transcript or something--in which Gillian swore up and down that the implication was NOT supposed to be that they'd (finally) slept together. I can see the implication being less once you get to the end of the episode, but the way the episode opens, that sure is a big tease. Chris Carter isn't the only one fucking with the fans. And so I imagine there a million fics filling in that caesura, but really haven't got the time to go browsing through archives at the moment. (I know I've seen it referenced by a couple of my favorite writers.)
Anyway, that was both heavy as fuck and artsy as fuck. Both of which might be the title of the Demons' next album. I'm working through my feelings on the story, but I like the overall arc, and the lighting, camera work, and cinematography were all absolutely stunning. The recurrent metronymic theme and the slowdowns were interesting in their timing and occurrence.
Awwwww, Mulder looks so hurt when Scully announces she's not going to England with him.
It's awfully embarrassing to have misspelled "pulmonary" on a big damn hospital navigation sign. :P
"I want everything I should want at this time of my life."
Trust me, no, digoxin and prednisone in combination with a heart condition aren't automatically dangerous. :P
In this episode and one of the recent ones we've seen long shots of Scully walking in heavy, chunky heels and a long coat, which is very strongly reminiscent of a couple of iconic shots of Stella from The Fall. ...and at some point in the last third of the episode there was a shot of Scully that reminded me she has THE EYE.
--wait that one lady just calmly announced she's a lesbian? I hadn't realized we were doing that already, though maybe this was already the wake of the Ellen drama.
That's about the dorkiest hat evar, Mulder. Also, Mulder just doesn't look right in baseball caps even when they're not covering mass quantities of bandages.
Of course there's a UFO in the fishtank.
I'm intrigued by the last name "Haiduk" of one of the guest actors and wondering if it comes from the Romanian word "haiduc."
...in other news I have SIX fics floating around in my drafts folder, meaning that at some point in the last month or two I decided they were urgent enough that I needed access to them from anywhere I had e-mail. And yet they're still in there.
