Oh I'm so glad this all made sense. Like you said, it's SUCH a difficult time to be a Christian because of that stigma. My friend Kaitlin is also what we've started terming (for lack of a better phrase)a "progressive" Christian so the two of us have been getting together to discuss some of these books so that's been nice. And I think you described it perfectly- bringing out the best parts of ourselves and trying to bring that out in others. I've been reading a book called "The Hole in Our Gospel" by Richard Stearns, who was a CEO of a fine china corporation and is now the president of the the largest nonprofit in the world. It's about what Christianity says about helping the poor, and tells about how the author got to where he is now, and it's absolutely fascinating. And I actually have not read anything about Mother Theresa but I will have to look up some books about her and add them to my list! Kaitlin and I have such long wish lists on amazon with books like this now...lol.
