In CT this is against the law. So is talking on a cell phone without hands free while driving. Ask me if anyone heeds either law? No.
I have had to swerve to avoid being mauled by ice chunks, and I also have seen accidents caused by them. In addition, they can cause melt/refreeze in areas that then become dangerously slippy.
People just don't care. "I'm in a rush - I need to get the kids to daycare" doesn't cut it in my book. Give the kids a stool and have them brush off the car - they might have fun! Seriously people are self-focused terds when it comes to driving and similar things.
