Everyone has been in the kind of scenario I am sure where they are torn between kissing up to someone on account they could possibly land them great opportunity, and yet this person turns out at second glance to be a completely insane invidual and you don't know if it's worth it to deal with them at all. I think I've encountered a textbook example ( Read more... )

Wow.
That lady is ...very special.

Most French people are very friendly, actually. They are just so pacifist to the point of anal retention in every aspect of their lives. (Catch-22?)

And those that come to the U.S. usually look down on it and aren't happy anyways or become smitten. (Every French person that I've met in Hawaii is completely smitten and proceed to buy a vacation timeshare *ick*)

I studied French because I wanted to be "Creole" because I thought it was a regular step up from normal black (after all, I'm part Native American and Caucasian, for ethnically speaking I fitted the mold).

I need to get back in the habit of reading Al-Jazeera in Arabic...*sigh*

Oh beleive me, I was was shocked too, because in my experience the French are actually usually the SWEETEST most politest people here when i run into them in CVS or in NYC, and usually they don't stop talking on how much actually they LOVE America. I so badly miss my high school French teacher, she was a truly such a peach. I dunno why the snobby mean stereotype emerged, except in spare cases like that lady. I'd actually never met a neurotic or nasty french person before her of ANY nationality.

What the fuck. Seriously sweetheart, you should have not worried about pissing that lady off. She sounds seriously ignorant and stuck in her ways with a huge ass chip on her shoulder. Sometimes a snake is just a snake, you know? (if you don't get the reference, get me to tell you the story sometime. Its an old Cherokee fable.) God, I thought I had a hard time with my workshop leader and his weird orientalism and obsession with obscure french literature and hatred of pop fiction, but this story makes everything I went through seem incredibly tame. And yes, french language and culture are completely lovely, but people should totally be taken on a case by case basis.

Nah, I am pretty certain she was either just a bitch, or maybe just sorta old. Being simply middle-aged/old sometimes just makes you go hand in hand with being a bitch. :D Haha. She seemed fairly legitimate to me, she went on and on in detail about her places already established abroad and had a fancy calling card and everything. In other words, she ain't like me. :)
