Title: Transposition #3

Jul 03, 2003 20:11

This was the 3rd painting from my "Transposition Series" made in June. The first two photos show the painting before I added the menstrual medium and the third photo shows the final result. I added a pearly powder to the gouache-acrylic mixture, which gives a shiny metalic glow to the yellow-greenish paint.

Thank you Eddie! After I finish a month's paintings I think to myself I'm going to take a break now. Yet I paint again when the next month rolls around. If you don't see new paintings this summer, you'll know why. If you do see new paintings, you'll know I just couldn't help it.

Happy Belated Birthday by the way.

Gorgeous. Reminds me of tracks through the desert. I've been thinking of doing blood art with mica powders added, with some gum arabic to stabilize it like a watercolor.

What is the ratio of menses to acrylic that you use?

I like your imagery of tracks through the desert.

Definitely try mica powders. You might turn your blood to gold. I accidently discovered that mixing silver powder with menstrual blood turns it to metalic bronze/gold. No one will believe that it's menstrual blood.

I've been increasing my ratio of acrylic gloss to menstrual medium. Three tablespoons of acrylic to 1 tablespoon of menstrual blood preserves the red color better than say 3:2 or 3:3.

I'd love to see your work. Will you post on Blood_Art?
