I am curious how you did these more colorful paintings. Did you mix your blood with white paint instead of just clear acrylic? What sort of color range can you get by using different colors, additives etc.? (I don't know the right word)
These are a nice contrast to the ones with just varying shades of red. They seem much happier, more vibrant, as if you're celebrating the small joys of life as well as the more solemn and mysterious aspects. I rather like how you have incorporated the photographs - it adds to the excitement. I can almost smell summertime.
Thanks. These paintings are a celebration of summertime cycles and I painted the series outdoors.
I mixed gouache and metallic paint to get the shiny colors. I mixed a small amount of my menstrual blood with a lot of glossy acrylic and didn't stir it completely. That gives a half-white, half-red swirling effect.
