That seems to be a fairly common theme, really, and is HUGELY why I'm working to set up classes. Yes, meditation is, at it's simplest "breathe", but there's a bit more to it than that, and that "more" is where a lot of folks seem to get lost from the outset.
One thing I think I'm going to attempt to do is figure out how to do classes over the internet, so that I can work with people who aren't in the immediate vicinity. I know a couple of people that are rather too far to drive, and I think that might be helpful to be able to do.
When I first started meditating, I would lie down on the bed and close my eyes. I would acknowledge every thought that came into my head and set it aside. I would acknowledge every itch, pain or twinge that came into my muscles and set it aside. Eventually I would be left with serenity or fall asleep. ;)
It would take HOURS to finally hit that moment.
But practice makes perfect. Now I can find that peace by looking at something that catches my eye, a tulip with mottled coloring, a rainbow, or a bird hunting for breakfast.

Helpful answers when I ask how always seem to include 'wells duh you just sit still and breathe'. <- note sarcasm
