Good grief, my poor neglected livejournal. Does anyone even read this thing anymore?

Summary in dot points...seeing that it's been almost 6 months since my last update:
  • Missed a flight to Krabi, Thailand, because my passport had less than 6 months on it :(
  • Started a graphic design course :)
  • Started the Gold syllabus in Latin dancing...can't wait to ( Read more... )

I'm an exclusive subscriber to all Team Lace entries!

That's quite the list of travel. Me, I've been across Canada and to Minneapolis/Texas. Canada's a big country, but still.

Anyhew, I can't talk much about the corporate ladder because I've never really worked in one, all I know is weasels tend to find their way into management.

I say an MBA will open a lot of doors and you'll make a lot of money, so it's probably a good thing for travel lust. The bad thing, though, is that you'll have to bunker down and do it while you'd probably rather be doing something else. I say blessing in disguise, but I suppose that remains to be seen.

How long have you been latin dancing?

@Travel - I guess Bali and Bangkok sound very exotic, but from Malaysia, you can get return flight tickets from about USD 100, so that's pretty affordable, and its how I manage to fulfill my minimum-once-a-year-overseas trips. (i.e. by going to third world countries haha!)

But you guys have some mega advantage in terms of currency. Considering 1 Canadian Dollar = 3 Malaysian Ringgit = 30 Thai Bhat, living expenses would be dirt cheap for you. Make use of your spending power, I say! :D

@Corporate ladder - Yeah. I guess you could say us business grads in financial institutions make more, but we leave work at 9pm daily...occasionally work Saturdays. Whats worse, is that its the norm rather than the exception.

Latin dancing...about...a year and a half, I think? It's more for fun than anything else (an hour and a half a week does nothing for burning calories / building muscle). How goes your training?

The expensive part is the traveling on a plane - beyond that, we're good. Our dollar's strong right now, but we're so dependant on the americans. We're good now, but our economy is really intertwined. Oh well. The nice thing is that Canada's so big that you can vacation in different parts and the climate's completely different ( ... )

dayum @ this whole post.

Glad you got a new job, but yeah before you go for the MBA make sure it's something you want. Everyone I know who worked on theirs had to literally put life on hold (and health - gained weight!).

Me glad you quit your job! I always thought you had it pretty good...Pink office, purty cupcakes, girly friends and all :P But you know, I'd have done the same thing if I had to deal with the whole family-owned business shiet.

Whatcha gonna do with your free time nao? Dad doing alright?

@ MBA - Yeah. If I do it, I want to make sure I'm doing it for the right reasons...and "I'm sick of being a corporate drone and just want to study to forever avoid wearing a 3 piece suit" isn't the right reason at all.

I still read it! Congrats on the new job. Keep looking eager and I'm sure someone will notice you (and give you more work!). :P

Thanks! I'm not exactly fighting tooth and nail do more work..only too glad to go home at 5.45 everyday! :D

It's just that my new boss seems to have some issues with me being too "visible". I'm trying to reassure him that I'm not out to steal his thunder...it's just that making me do painfully repetitive admin work (i.e. update stock / inventory levels) isn't bringing me any value...neither is it bringing value to the company, because you could hire a person with 1/3rd of my salary to do it anyway =/

Also, you're afraid of sharks?? :P
