Summary: Living isn’t all that bad.

- [warning: I kind of hope you cry.]

Monday. The start of a very dull and repetitive working week. Well, for Sunggyu it was dull. He was a literature major and it wasn’t that he hated it; it’s just that he absorbed everything too easily. He analysed too quickly for the creativeness to sink in and set up a residence in his conscious. Sure, he aced everything that could be thrown at him, but his interest in such things only lasted so long. Sunggyu thought he needed something more, but never knew what it was.

It was early in the morning when he squeezed into the packed train, fighting for oxygen with the other suburbanites that forced themselves up at six every morning to roam in the city. Sunggyu found a spot near the door where he could stand and hold onto the bar above to keep himself stable. The train’s doors slowly slid shut and the train began moving, leaving the standing passengers swaying side to side.

It was quiet, so quiet not even the murmurs of high school students could be heard. Sunggyu sighed in content, indulging in the lack of loud gossips that usually disrupted the carriages he chose to travel in. It was all silence until Sunggyu heard a deep voice.

‘It’s rather stupid,’ the guy next to him said, lopsided smile on his face. From the direction of his sight, Sunggyu knew immediately that he was talking to him.

He glanced around the carriage for anyone who may be disturbed by their talking, but saw that everyone was listening to their own music or reading their own newspapers.

‘What is?’ Sunggyu asked, looking at the guy with a blank expression. The other’s smile grew wider at Sunggyu’s response.

‘How we exist without knowing the meaning of existence,’ he pondered out loud, looking around thoughtfully, ‘How we live without knowing why we have to live.’

Sunggyu’s eyebrows knitted together.

‘What’s your name?’

‘Sunggyu,’ he answered a little sceptically.

‘Woohyun,’ Woohyun said, lips quirking at Sunggyu’s expression. The train slid to a halt and the doors slid open. It wasn’t Sunggyu’s stop so he stayed put. Woohyun noticed and so asked leisurely, moving closer to the other as more passengers filed into the carriage, ‘What stop are you getting off at?’

Sunggyu didn’t let the close distance between them waver him. ‘The one after next,’ he replied.

‘I’m after you then,’ Woohyun mentioned, shifting a little so there was breathing space between them.

‘But you mean figuratively as well as literally, I’m guessing,’ Sunggyu scoffed, a smirk forming at his lips.

Woohyun clicked his tongue and nodded. ‘You’re right, actually,’ he stated fondly. Sunggyu then felt something hard nudging his hand and saw a phone being held out to him.

Normally Sunggyu wouldn’t hand out his number to strangers, but he thought What the hell. What’s the worst thing that could happen? This Woohyun guy didn’t exactly seem like one of those perverted player-types. And he was good-looking, but no, Sunggyu didn’t care about looks at all (or so he claimed).

He took the device in his hands and started punching in his number. ‘That was an interesting pick-up line you used - It’s rather stupid. It leaves the other party intrigued,’ Sunggyu remarked playfully, ‘Somewhat lame and overdone, in my opinion.’

He handed back the phone and Woohyun inspected the number. ‘It worked, didn’t it?’ he chuckled.

Sunggyu’s head tipped to the side as he said, ‘Or perhaps I saw through you and decided to give you a fake number…’

Woohyun clicked on Sunggyu’s number and saw something light up in Sunggyu’s pants pocket.

‘Perhaps not,’ he uttered, smirking.

Too bad for Sunggyu, Woohyun was too close to him to hide his blush.

The biological meaning of life is reproduction

That afternoon, Sunggyu sat in a café that was close to his house. He always ended up sitting in the peaceful surroundings with a good book and a steaming cup. In a way, he was helping his brother as his brother worked at that very cafe and Sunggyu was increasing business.

As he heard a clink, he looked up and met eyes with his younger brother. He smiled in gratitude before scowling at the screen of his phone, saving the unknown number as Woohyun.

‘Who are you texting?’ Myungsoo asked in curiosity from the expression his brother was making.

Sunggyu clicked his tongue. ‘Just someone,’ he dismissed. He saw that his brother had taken a seat opposite him and raised an eyebrow at how relaxed he looked. He mentioned leisurely, ‘Won’t your boss crack it at you if he sees you sitting here?’

‘You mean my boss is on crack,’ Myungsoo scoffed, rolling his eyes.

Sunggyu knew he didn’t mean it in the literal sense and so his lips upturned in amusement. ‘Really? I don’t think I’ve ever seen your boss before,’ he remarked.

‘You have. Many times,’ the younger brother deadpanned, ‘You know the one who screeches girl group songs when he brews coffee? That’s him.’

Sunggyu recalled a lanky figure and a cracking voice. ‘Your boss is on crack,’ he confirmed with a blank expression.

‘I know,’ Myungsoo sighed.

‘And he’s young.’

‘I know,’ Myungsoo repeated.

Sunggyu smirked a little. ‘And you’ve inspected his backside many times before,’ he stated matter-of-factly.

Myungsoo’s mouth opened and closed silently before he shook his head to rid him of his thoughts. ‘I should get to work before I get fired,’ he insisted, before standing up and walking to the back of the café.

Sunggyu shook his head in disbelief. When he was about to take a sip of his latte, he felt his phone buzz in his pocket.

Why aren’t you replying to me? =_=

Sunggyu frowned and didn’t bother to reply again.

-

Sunggyu didn’t reply to any one of Woohyun’s texts. He didn’t know why he already found the other so annoying already. Woohyun was left with the impression that Sunggyu had blocked his number, or so Sunggyu hoped - so he could prove him wrong later, no matter how immature and unnecessary it seemed.

It was Sunday morning when Sunggyu woke up to a doorbell. His brother and his parents were sleeping in and shouted that he was to open the door. As he sighed about having such responsibilities as the eldest son, Sunggyu opened the door without peeking in the peephole to see who it was first.

He didn’t think Woohyun would be there, on his door step, ridiculously sexy smirk enhancing his gorgeous features.

‘Good morning,’ Woohyun cooed a little teasingly, taking in the unexpected sight of Sunggyu in his pyjamas and his bird’s nest hair.

Sunggyu’s eyes widened as soon as he recognised the face and when Woohyun opened his mouth to speak again, Sunggyu threw the door shut with a loud thud. By this time, Myungsoo was walking downstairs and witnessed Sunggyu’s rude and sudden action with a crooked eyebrow.

With a few blinks to rid away his tiredness, Myungsoo mentioned sleepily, ‘Hyung, I wouldn’t even slam the door that hard on paparazzi.’

Sunggyu’s expression fell serious as he whispered quietly, thinking that Woohyun could possibly hear him, ‘I think I have a stalker.’

In return, Myungsoo rolled his eyes and opened the door again.

‘Hey, Woohyun,’ he greeted with a sheepish smile.

Woohyun returned the smile before looking amusedly at Sunggyu in his confused state. ‘Hey, Myung.’

‘You know each other?’ Sunggyu mumbled, not yet grasping the situation.

‘Yeah, he goes to the same university,’ Myungsoo confirmed, taking a USB stick Woohyun handed to him like they had arranged. The fact that Myungsoo and Woohyun had recently became friends and that Sunggyu gave his number out to Woohyun on Monday was completely coincidental - Sunggyu finally realised and wanted to slap himself for jumping to conclusions.

Sunggyu shot Woohyun a glare and accused, ‘You told me you were a personal trainer!’

‘So I could pay for my course…?’ Woohyun added slowly, giving Sunggyu a weird look.

Sunggyu flushed promptly. ‘Oh.’

‘Thanks for this,’ Myungsoo ended, sensing the awkward atmosphere, ‘Bye, Nam.’

‘I’ll see you tomorrow,’ Woohyun said as he turned around.

‘Sure.’ Myungsoo closed the door shut and inspected the USB a little before encasing it in his fingers, walking back upstairs to put it on his computer desk.

Sunggyu was curious so he asked, ‘What did he give you?’

‘Porn.’

Sunggyu did a double-take. ‘What?’

‘Porn,’ Myungsoo repeated, holding up the USB with an indifferent expression.

Sunggyu’s head tilted before he realised his brother needed to get out there more - date, perhaps.

-

Since that incident, Sunggyu felt slightly guilty for jumping to conclusions and accusing Woohyun of being a lying creep. To make up for his actions, Sunggyu called the younger and offered to have lunch and watch a movie with him. Woohyun happily agreed and Sunggyu was relieved that Woohyun didn’t mention as to what changed his mind and why he hadn’t been answering his texts.

On Saturday, they met up at a small restaurant to eat lunch before crossing the road to watch a movie at the mall. Apart from greetings and ordering food, they didn’t speak to each other. They ate in silence until Sunggyu brought up timidly, ‘You know my brother…’

‘Small world,’ Woohyun chuckled, ‘Why? Is it weird?’

Sunggyu cringed a little. ‘I find it strange that you gave him a USB drive full of adult videos.’

Woohyun shrugged. ‘I’m a considerate friend.’

‘Considerate friends take care of each other’s libidos,’ Sunggyu scoffed dryly.

With a devilish smirk that had Sunggyu’s heartbeat on accelerate, Woohyun leaned over the little table and made sure his eyes never left Sunggyu’s - the other party was too embarrassed and so looked elsewhere, although it didn’t faze Woohyun in the slightest. Woohyun leaned into his personal space, his lips by his ear as he murmured huskily, ‘I could take care of yours too, if you want me to.’

Sunggyu cleared his throat to recapture what was left of his crumbling composure. ‘No, thank you. I know how to download,’ he scorned, making Woohyun return to his seat empty-handed.

It was a little awkward after that. For Sunggyu, it had been a long time since he dated - high school, actually. He was now in his last year at university. Since entering higher education, Sunggyu grew fond of quiet nights in his room, surfing the internet endlessly. He liked having the blanket all to himself and having no one to make an effort to text every night. It grew from a like to a habit to a routine.

But routines only held efficiency for so long before they turned boring and mind-numbing.

Since it had been a while and Sunggyu wasn’t very experienced to begin with, he began fidgeting with his fingers and looking elsewhere, giving absolutely no attention to his date. But then again, did Woohyun know this was a date? Sunggyu forgot to specify over the phone and he was sure as hell not going to right there.

‘Are you dating someone?’ Woohyun interrupted Sunggyu’s over thinking.

Sunggyu questioned blankly, ‘Is this a date?’ Woops. That wasn’t meant to come out.

‘Yes,’ Woohyun chuckled.

‘Then yes.’

Woohyun elaborated, ‘Anyone besides me, then?’

‘No. Why do you ask?’

‘You seem very uninterested in me,’ Woohyun remarked, an eyebrow raising at Sunggyu’s distant behaviour.

Sunggyu laughed heartedly and said, ‘Don’t flatter yourself, please.’

Woohyun smiled beautifully and Sunggyu’s heart skipped a bit.

‘And I am interested in you,’ he added quietly.

Woohyun smiled wider, making Sunggyu blush at the fact Woohyun heard him.

-

‘Prove it,’ Sunggyu demanded sternly.

‘That’s immature, isn’t it?’

After their movie, Sunggyu and Woohyun went to the restroom, talking about past dates and relationships. They ended up in front of the theatre bickering.

Sunggyu exclaimed, narrowing his eyes, ‘Oh, come on. How do you expect me to believe something like that?’

Woohyun shook his head with a grin, making Sunggyu bite back a smile. He pointed towards the opposite wall, where other movie-watchers stood to wait for their theatres to open. ‘See that girl over there?’ he sighed, ‘Watch.’

Sunggyu nodded and watched as Woohyun walked over to her with an arrogant front, his hands in his pockets. Sunggyu’s head tilted as he tried to listen in on their conversation, but failed to as he was too far away.

Woohyun went up to the chosen girl and mentioned casually, ‘That shirt is way too small for you, but besides that it looks okay.’

The girl’s jaw dropped at him and Sunggyu was expecting a slap or a kick in the nuts. He heard someone call out something that sounded like his name, so he turned around and realised it was someone else and not him. When he turned back, Woohyun was grinning like a maniac as the girl he was subtly insulting was typing her number into his phone. Sunggyu blinked in disbelief at the scene - She said yes to that?

Woohyun came back to him, proudly holding up his phone as evidence of his brilliance.

‘You’re kidding me,’ Sunggyu spat, not believing his eyes as he saw the girl’s real number on Woohyun’s phone, ‘Is she some actress you set up just to prove me wrong?’

‘It works most of the time. I told you.’

‘You’re unbelievable,’ Sunggyu snorted, wrapping an arm around Woohyun’s and leading him towards the exit.

Woohyun laughed, ‘You saw it, didn’t you?’

With gritted teeth, Sunggyu hissed in defeat, ‘Yes.’

Shifting so he was holding Sunggyu around the waist, Woohyun laughed, ‘It only works on the female species.’

‘Then what about the male species?’

Woohyun smirked. ‘Intrigue.’

-

Woohyun walked Sunggyu home, even though he insisted he was fine to walk on his own. They stopped at the footpath before the driveway, Woohyun’s hands easily finding Sunggyu’s waist. Sunggyu showed a little courage and wrapped his arms around Woohyun’s neck, pulling their faces closer.

‘I had fun today,’ Sunggyu mentioned with a bit-back smile, his warm breath hitting Woohyun’s cheek.

Woohyun smiled sheepishly, beginning to lean into Sunggyu’s inviting warmth. ‘Me too,’ he murmured softly. Before Sunggyu could pull away with an awkward cough, Woohyun’s lips grazed his, his teeth nipping at Sunggyu’s bottom lip until it was reddened. Sunggyu’s eyelids fluttered closed at the sensation, his hands automatically seeking refuge in Woohyun’s messy hair, tugging at the strands until they were really kissing.

With a smirk, Woohyun easily pried Sunggyu’s lips apart with his tongue, his hand sliding up the expanse of Sunggyu’s clothed back. He tilted his head, swiping his tongue over Sunggyu’s teeth until Sunggyu’s pressed back, asking for a fight. Their tongues melded against each other, seeking every sensation, every taste.

It was cheating, in Sunggyu’s opinion, but the other had slid his hand down to cup Sunggyu’s ass and Sunggyu’s tongue gave up, letting Woohyun have his way. The younger only pulled away when his oxygen was nearly depleted, letting the threads of saliva break between them. They were both panting, breath taken away. Woohyun hadn’t had enough - not just yet - so he began kissing down Sunggyu’s neck, nipping at the section of skin on his shoulder that was exposed by his crew neck sweater.

Sunggyu felt his knees threatening to buckle, so his pushed Woohyun away weakly at the chest as he stammered, ‘W - We should -‘ Woohyun pressed a quick kiss to his lips. ‘- stop here.’

The younger didn’t back away, instead he rested his forehead on Sunggyu’s, their lips barely touching as he whispered hoarsely, ‘I’ll call you.’

He then pulled away and left Sunggyu in his haze. ‘Uh-huh,’ Sunggyu exhaled, blinking at Woohyun’s grinning face before him.

They bid each other goodbye before Sunggyu stepped into his house. He found Myungsoo peeking through the curtains of the front windows and rolled his eyes.

‘Let me guess… You saw all of that?’ Sunggyu deadpanned.

‘Yep,’ Myungsoo chimed shamelessly, swinging an arm over Sunggyu’s shoulders as they began walking to the dining table for dinner. ‘You two make the perfect couple in my opinion.’

‘You think so?’

‘I know so.’

-

‘Are you free this weekend?’

Sunggyu was studying yet another textbook and he was completely sick of it. Once he saw Woohyun’s name pop up onto his phone, he practically threw the book away and picked up the call.

‘Sorry. I’m moving out of my parents’ house,’ Sunggyu mumbled dejectedly, pouting. He was dreading moving out - not because he would miss his brother or his parents (He wasn’t moving that far away from them), but because he hated dissembling and packing things into boxes.

Woohyun asked hopefully, ‘Need any help?’

‘I don’t really have a lot of stuff, but sure.’ Yeah, Sunggyu figured he could use him and his personal trainer muscles.

-

‘How many books do one person need?’ Woohyun spat as he carried in another two boxes filled with Sunggyu’s precious books. Sunggyu was unboxing lazily as he looked up at Woohyun from his spot on the floorboards.

Sunggyu pressed his lips into a thin line. ‘Hey, it’s a hobby. It’s like dumbbells to you,’ he retorted.

Woohyun settled the boxes down with the many other cardboard boxes of literature. After dusting off his hands, he ruffled Sunggyu’s dark hair as he cooed, ‘Dumbbells is not my hobby, silly.’

‘Then what is your hobby?’ Sunggyu snapped after slapping the offending hand away.

‘Having fun.’

‘So you are implying that dumbbells are boring?’

‘Yes, they are.’

‘Well, I agree with you,’ Sunggyu remarked, standing up and tugging at the waistband on his sweatpants. Woohyun opened up a few more boxes, all containing many books.

He sighed, ‘You can probably separate this room into two rooms with all the books you have.’

Sunggyu raised an eyebrow at him, his arms crossing.

Woohyun frowned. ‘Okay, I’ll save the lame jokes for someone who cares.’

‘I’d appreciate that,’ the older student chuckled, picking up a few volumes and placing them on his new coffee table.

Woohyun brought up, ‘Why isn’t Myungsoo helping?’

‘He’s a lazy ass,’ Sunggyu scoffed. Myungsoo was probably in his room, door locked, lights off, scanning through his collection of porn that Woohyun helped him add to. He needed a life besides photography, endless amounts of adult videos and not asking his boss out, Sunggyu noted.

After they both gave up on unloading the belongings from their cardboard confines, Sunggyu decided it was easier to just leave everything in the boxes. They would be easier to find, anyway. He then swiped clean his new kitchen bench, feeling hands rest on his hipbones.

‘What?’ he muttered, Woohyun’s lips pecking his cheek and his temple.

Woohyun hummed before walking off, ‘Nothing.’ He explored Sunggyu’s new apartment, leaving Sunggyu to clean up the kitchen by himself.

When he was finally done, he turned around and saw that Woohyun had disappeared. He quickly found him sleeping on his mattress, on top of clothes he was too lazy to fold at the moment. They had yet assembled the bed frame because they were tired from unloading and Sunggyu didn’t really find a problem with sleeping on just a mattress. Sunggyu sat on the edge of his temporary bed, letting his eyes wander over Woohyun’s features. It might’ve been creepy, but Sunggyu watched him for a while. He found him stupidly handsome and it was almost overwhelming. He wanted to kiss him again, to see if he would respond in his sleep or wake up and throw Sunggyu onto the mattress and ravish him senseless.

Okay, maybe Sunggyu was hoping for too much because when he really did kiss Woohyun, the other just woke up with a yawn and gave him a peck on the cheek.

‘Let’s get to work, slacker,’ Woohyun chuckled breathlessly, sitting up.

Sunggyu pouted, secretly wanting at least a proper kiss.

-

‘I’m sorry if this is too romantic for you to handle,’ Woohyun mentioned playfully. They were going to have a picnic atop a hill - entirely Woohyun’s cheesy idea. Sunggyu went along with it because he found out Woohyun was an exceptional cook the week before and his boyfriend made everything himself for their date.

Sunggyu was sluggishly making his way up the steep hill as Woohyun was skipping along excitedly beside him, their fingers intertwined. Shaking his head, Sunggyu scoffed, ‘Oh please, you’ve got nothing on my last boyfriend.’

‘What did he do?’ Woohyun smiled in amusement, letting go of Sunggyu’s hand to sit down.

Sunggyu sat down beside him. ‘Don’t remind me,’ he huffed in annoyance, ‘I don’t really like romance - I find it rather cringe-worthy - so it’s fine if you don’t make an effort. I tend to like more comfortable dates.’

Woohyun pouted, but relaxed nonetheless. He unpacked the basket and Sunggyu didn’t wait for everything to be unloaded to dig in. They both ate, stealing glances at each other every so often. Woohyun restrained himself from feeding Sunggyu, no matter how cute he looked when he ate. He noted that Sunggyu was the type to stuff everything into his mouth as soon as possible before actually chewing. It was endearing and he couldn’t help but laugh a little at his eating habits. Sunggyu notably glared at him, before indulging himself in Woohyun’s cooking once again.

Once they finished eating - it was over quicker than Woohyun had expected - they stared across the park for a few minutes, watching absolutely nothing. It was comfortable and Sunggyu was sure he could doze off at any second, but he heard his name in Woohyun’s voice, the other’s eyes fixated on him.

‘Can I admit something?’ Woohyun asked, an unreadably blank expression across his face.

Sunggyu tilted his head at him, mumbling, ‘What?’

There was a moment of anticipation before Woohyun said, with that same expression, ‘Since I’ve met you, I’ve came seven times while thinking of you.’ His lack of expression rendered into a smirk and Sunggyu blushed a rosy pink as he realised what Woohyun had just admitted.

After clearing his throat, Sunggyu turned his head to look back at the scenery out of embarrassment, although he tried to hide it. ‘You always have the weirdest ways of starting conversations,’ he mentioned, swallowing thickly. He didn’t give the other any eye contact until he heard a chuckle and decided to peek at Woohyun’s gorgeous face, the sunlight only enhancing his features.

‘I am far from a traditionalist,’ the younger stated proudly.

Sunggyu rolled his eyes and countered, turning up his nose, ‘Well, you are dating someone of the same gender, so of course.’

Then Sunggyu stood up and took a few steps forward, inhaling a whiff of fresh air. Plus, he was avoiding his date, who was making him somewhat uncomfortable. He heard some rustling behind him, like the grass was being treaded on, and then he felt warm arms wrap around his waist.

‘It looks good on you,’ Woohyun remarked huskily, referring to Sunggyu’s lightened hair. Sunggyu felt wet kisses down his neck and he bit back a sigh at the feeling.

‘Better than the old colour?’

‘I think you’re gorgeous either way,’ Woohyun chuckled, kissing his cheek.

Sunggyu glared ahead of him. ‘What did I say about romantic things? I don’t like them,’ he snapped.

‘You’re going to hate me then.’

-

Somehow, even with Woohyun’s suggestive comments and Sunggyu’s refusal to give him any attention, they ended up kicking out Woohyun’s housemate, Dongwoo, and stumbling into Woohyun’s bedroom. Maybe they were moving too fast, only having had known each other for a month or so, but their skin felt good against each other and that was a good enough reason as any.

They stumbled onto Woohyun’s bed, on top of his crumbled sheets from when he didn’t bother to make his bed that morning. Woohyun’s hand quickly riled up Sunggyu’s flimsy shirt, giving his newly exposed skin a smothering of kisses and love bites.

Sunggyu spent no time in waiting for Woohyun’s pants to be off before he grabbed Woohyun’s hardened dick through his boxers. Woohyun groaned at the contact, unzipping his pants and pushing them down so Sunggyu had easier access.

‘What do you imagine… when you’re jerking off?’ Sunggyu breathed against Woohyun’s neck daringly, ‘You’ve mentioned coming because of me, so what do you imagine me doing?’

Sunggyu let go so he could rid Woohyun of his boxers and pants entirely. Right after, he wrapped his eager fingers around Woohyun’s erection again, giving him a quick squeeze. Woohyun threw his head back, letting out a breathy moan, ‘Fuck… Exactly this.’

There was a devilishly grin on Sunggyu’s face as he pushed Woohyun to sit on the bed and got on his knees. Woohyun found out Sunggyu’s mouth did wonders.

‘Shit…’ Woohyun hissed, tugging at the caramel strands of Sunggyu’s hair. Sunggyu’s slowly sucked his way up from base to tip. He then sucked hard on the head, making Woohyun choke back a string of profanities and mentions of God. Sunggyu then let go, smirking. He gently grazed his lips across Woohyun’s sensitive slit before using his teeth, making Woohyun go wild with frustration.

The younger couldn’t take it anymore, so he held Sunggyu’s chin back and pulled him up. ‘Enough,’ he growled against Sunggyu’s neck. He made quick work of the rest of their clothes, taking the opportunity to leave more marks on Sunggyu’s body, making him his. He had Sunggyu lying on his back in seconds, his legs spread wide and his hips raised invitingly.

It was amusing to find out that Sunggyu was an eager little slut.

Woohyun took a few seconds to steal Dongwoo’s lube, soaking his fingers and cock in the cool liquid. He made sure to put on a bit of a show for Sunggyu, fluttering his eyes shut and moaning Sunggyu’s name lowly as his slippery fingers coated his hard dick. Sunggyu cursed at him, biting his lip as he watched. The bottle was then thrown away carelessly, completely forgotten as Sunggyu felt a finger circling his entrance at a ridiculously slow speed.

To Woohyun, the way Sunggyu propelled his hips towards him was utterly adorable, trying to feel more of Woohyun’s torturous finger. Woohyun didn’t relent on his teasing until Sunggyu began whining cutely. He rewarded him with three fingers at the same time.

Sunggyu’s back arched, a scream spilling from his lips as Woohyun’s fingers bent and twisted inside him, stretching him out. He should’ve been a bit more eloquent (Well, as eloquent as one could be during sex), but he pressed down on the fingers, trying to get them deeper inside him. Woohyun chuckled, making red rise in Sunggyu’s cheeks. The fingers were then pulled out and Sunggyu’s breath hitched. He didn’t have a chance to complain at the loss because he soon felt the tip of Woohyun’s cock. Again, Woohyun teasingly circled the entrance, finding pleasure in the way Sunggyu whimpered in frustration.

Because he was endearing, Woohyun found him worthy of actually fucking. He slowly pushed his way in, mentioning something about how unbelievably tight Sunggyu was under his breath. He didn’t stop until he felt his hips meeting the back of Sunggyu’s thighs, their sweat-soaked skin beginning to stick. After that, Woohyun didn’t dare to budge from his position and Sunggyu wanted to shake some sense into him and get him moving.

‘Just do it,’ Sunggyu snapped between pants, unable to cope any longer.

Woohyun looked down on him with a hint of guilt in his gaze, his thumb swiping away a bead of sweat that pooled at Sunggyu’s temple. ‘I don’t want to hurt you,’ he stated simply.

Sunggyu sighed, ‘You won’t.’

‘Are you subtly trying to tell me you’re a cockslut?’ Woohyun questioned in amusement.

‘No,’ Sunggyu retorted playfully, ‘I’m subtly trying to tell you you’re dick isn’t that great.’

Woohyun raised an eyebrow at him - a threatening look - and Sunggyu felt Woohyun slowly slipping out.

‘I’m kidding,’ he laughed, a little panicky that Woohyun was going to leave him like this. He never really knew what the other was going to do next.

Woohyun smiled cynically and pulled out completely, making Sunggyu gasp in disappointment. He then got off the bed, muttering, ‘Just for that…’

Sunggyu blinked in confusion until he felt his wrists being tugged above his head and something cold around them, locking him to the bedframe.

Handcuffs. Interesting. ‘I would’ve never guessed you were this type of person,’ Sunggyu commented, experimentally testing the quality of the cuffs that Woohyun had pulled out from his nightstand.

Woohyun shrugged before hovering over his boyfriend again. ‘I’m not exactly. It was a joke Christmas present from a friend,’ he explained uncaringly, urging Sunggyu to wrap his legs around Woohyun’s waist.

‘Whoever your friend is, I don’t like them,’ Sunggyu mumbled with a pout. For that cute gesture, Woohyun rammed into him without warning, making him arch off the bed and choke on his surprised moan.

Woohyun fucked him ruthlessly, not allowing him to suck in a breath. It was the first time they fucked, but Woohyun knew exactly when Sunggyu was going to cum. He could tell by the way Sunggyu’s toes curled into his back and the way he screamed at the top of his lungs and the way his dick twitched violently at Woohyun’s every movement.

Sunggyu keened at the tightening in his abdomen, his eyes squeezed shut. His nails dug it his palms, his hands around the bars of the wooden bed frame. Woohyun was goddamn cruel and accurate and everything that made Sunggyu weak at the knees and begging for more with every moan. And Sunggyu soon found out how much more cruel Woohyun could be.

Before either of them could cum, Woohyun quickly pulled out, leaving Sunggyu breathless and his eyelids slowly fluttering open. His eyes focused to see Woohyun jerking himself off, his cum splattering onto Sunggyu’s ass. The latter could’ve came from the sight and the warm feeling, but he would never give Woohyun that pleasure of seeing him cum from looking alone - despite how fucking gorgeous Woohyun looked with sweat dripping down his chest, the Adam’s apple in his neck bobbing up and down, as he came with a loud groan of Sunggyu’s name.

‘Ugh, I fucking hate you, you bastard,’ Sunggyu grunted, thrashing against the mattress as Woohyun fell from his high and smirked.

‘Keep talking like that and I’ll never let you cum,’ Woohyun warned, teasingly caressing Sunggyu from cheek to inner thigh, indulging himself in the way he shivered under his fingertips.

He fucked him again and denied him again. Sunggyu screamed something about wanting to break up, but Woohyun didn’t take it to heart and continued his torture. He fucked him slowly, dragging every thrust out and making Sunggyu push back onto his dick. He needed more and Woohyun was a devilish bastard that knew how to push all the right buttons to get Sunggyu practically begging.

And so Sunggyu threw his pride out of the window. Fuck it, he was horny and desperate.

‘Woohyun, I want you, please.’

It wasn’t really something Woohyun could just ignore, so he finally gave him what he wanted. His fingers tightened around Sunggyu’s weeping dick and jutted his hips back and forth continuously at a speed that made Sunggyu dizzy. Sunggyu’s eyes rolled back, whimpers and swears flinging out of his dirty little mouth. Woohyun fucked screams out of him, the cum out of him, until Sunggyu’s stomach was as dirty as his language.

With Sunggyu’s walls clenching around him almost possessively, Woohyun couldn’t help but cum again, making Sunggyu feel odd and sticky inside.

He pulled out, collapsing besides Sunggyu on the mattress. Finally, Sunggyu’s wrists got a break and Woohyun dropped the handcuffs onto the floorboards with a loud clink. They laid there in a heap of sweaty limps and exhausted bodies, enjoying the post-sex bliss and the smell of each other through the air.

Sunggyu was embarrassed right after he caught his breath. He wasn’t shameful about having goddamn mind-blowing sex with his sex demon boyfriend, but he looked down the mattress and saw the cum between their sweaty bodies. It made him blush furiously and turn around, so his back was facing the other. Woohyun was still in a daze, his arms tightly wrapping around Sunggyu’s abdomen. Sunggyu could vaguely feel Woohyun’s sticky lips grazing against the slight hollow down his back. It vaguely felt like a smile.

‘I love you,’ he heard next, almost a whisper that was meant to be kept locked within one’s thoughts.

Sunggyu froze at the words, thinking that they may have come out by mistake or merely due to the fact that they had just orgasmed with each other’s names at the tips of their tongues and it was the right thing to do at the time - or perhaps just seemingly right, thanks to Hollywood movies that had taught them to think that you fall in love after ejaculation.

What Woohyun said next confused Sunggyu even more. ‘I know it’s insane and I know we haven’t known each other for long, but I can’t deny the way I feel about you,’ he said softly. He sounded sincere. He sounded like he knew exactly what he was saying and Sunggyu’s arms were patterned in Goosebumps.

Sunggyu was reminded that they had barely known each other for a month and they’d only been on three or so dates - one which was primarily moving his dusty belongings and tidying his new apartment. Maybe there was a possibility Woohyun was untrustworthy and he was on the path of being hurt, so Sunggyu did the cowardly thing - He tried to make it a joke.

‘Is it because we just had sex?’ he laughed, his voice trembling slightly.

Woohyun saw through him like he was a pair of freshly polished sunglasses. ‘No,’ he stated, ‘You probably won’t believe me, but no.’

There was no hesitation and no inkling of untruth. Sunggyu knew he meant it and he didn’t know if he should’ve been thrilled or terrified.

‘I fell in love with your personality first. I love how you’re so intelligent and how you refuse to believe that you get embarrassed at times and how endearing that is.’

Sunggyu was able to relax a little as Woohyun’s thumb swiped back and forth over the soft skin of his stomach. It was incredible that something so small could make him feel so at peace. He realised it was comparable to their relationship - how something so short, so like yesterday, had grown to mean so much to him.

‘Then I fell in love with your quirks, your habits.’ Woohyun mentioned, his hand sliding up to rub Sunggyu’s shoulder, leaving feathery kisses on the ivory skin, ‘Like how you grind your teeth when you think really hard.’

‘I do not,’ Sunggyu retorted, although he knew it was true.

‘You do so,’ the younger laughed, ‘Or how you always fill your mouth with food before you actually start to chew, or how you sleep with one arm raised above your head, or how you toy with the corner of a page just a little before you turn it.’

Sunggyu didn’t retort this time. He couldn’t really defend himself - It wasn’t exactly his fault he felt so comfortable when his arm was up while he slept. He believed it opened his airways and such, but he was going to leave his arguments for another day.

‘Then I kissed you and I fell in love with your taste, your scent, the feel of your skin beneath my fingertips - I fell for all of it,’ Woohyun’s voice was quieter now. He then snorted and added playfully, ‘All that is besides the fact that I’m fond of the amazing sex, but you can believe what you want to believe.’

Sunggyu smiled to himself. ‘I believe you,’ he insisted, his fingers lacing with Woohyun’s.

A few moments of comfortable silence drawled by, Woohyun’s lips too busy kissing and nipping Sunggyu’s skin to talk. He loved leaving little marks. They were obvious reminders to Sunggyu that he belonged to Woohyun, even when Woohyun wasn’t by his side.

The night grew darker, leaving the two staring blankly into dim light. Sunggyu felt Woohyun’s forehead press against the middle of his back as he mumbled quietly, ‘I’m sorry for loving you.’

‘Why are you sorry?’

Woohyun shifted to snuggle closer, layering his warmth over Sunggyu’s body. ‘Goodnight,’ he whispered with a peck to Sunggyu’s cheek, ignoring his question.

-

A few weeks later, Sunggyu came home from school to find Woohyun seated cross-legged in the middle of his bed, which was yet to have a frame and so was nothing but a sheet and a mattress. Sunggyu didn’t bother to ask him how he got in. The first time it happened - two weeks ago - his questions were cut off by Woohyun’s tongue down his throat and his hand down his pants. Soon, he grew used to Woohyun’s unexpected appearances in his apartment.

Before Sunggyu could ask what the hell his boyfriend wanted this time, Woohyun’s news interrupted him, ‘I quit school.’

Sunggyu was dumbfounded for a while and he just stared at Woohyun’s unreadable expression like he was hypnotised. He then registered what Woohyun had said. He quit school. He quit music. He quit higher education for whatever unknown reason.

‘Why?’ Sunggyu snapped, his jaw dropping. This was a little more abrupt than he had gotten used to.

Woohyun stood up and grabbed his forearms. ‘I also quit my job,’ he added, his expression indifferent.

Sunggyu found it hard to talk. ‘What the hell has gotten into you?’ he exclaimed with difficulty, checking if Woohyun had a fever. Maybe the flu hindered Woohyun’s ability to make goddamn thought-thoroughly-about decisions.

‘I’m working at the café with Myungsoo now,’ the younger informed, a small smile finally tugging at his lips, ‘I think I just want to do something quiet for now, before I figure myself out.’

‘If you want somewhere quiet, working for Myungsoo’s boss isn’t exactly a good choice,’ Sunggyu scoffed, accepting his boyfriend’s decisions. He didn’t even try to understand Woohyun’s muddled head. He just let it be. Woohyun always had a way of landing on his feet, anyway.

Woohyun sighed in agreement, ‘But it’ll have to do.’

Sunggyu was going to ask him about what changed his mind, why and why so quickly. But Woohyun’s firm hands found his backside and he forgot what he was going to say.

‘You look delicious, by the way,’ Woohyun whispered, smirking. He once again cut Sunggyu off with that sinful tongue. ‘You taste it too.’

-

It had been three months since Woohyun and Sunggyu were dating when Woohyun officially moved in with Sunggyu. He had practically been living there for two months and by the end of the second month, must of his stuff was already there. It was a somewhat unnoticeable transition to Sunggyu, until he realised Woohyun’s mail was being addressed to his apartment. Apparently, Woohyun even had a key since ages ago, which would actually explain a lot.

They were standing on the balcony, shooing away mosquitoes that crowded their minimal light. It was summer already so the sky was still darkening, even though it was almost midnight.

Sunggyu felt eyes on him, scanning over him almost. He turned his head and saw Woohyun smiling sweetly at him.

‘You’re really beautiful, Sunggyu,’ Woohyun stated. It didn’t sound like an opinion. It sounded like a fact, like something you’d find in the oldest encyclopaedia in the library - Kim Sunggyu is beautiful.

Sunggyu’s eyelids fluttered as Woohyun wiped away the single fallen eyelash that was obstructing the perfection of his cheek.

Woohyun hugged him around the waist, his chin resting on his shoulder. ‘I mean it,’ he whispered, diminishing the already minimal doubt Sunggyu had about what Woohyun thought of him. ‘I love you.’

And so Sunggyu finally said it back.

‘I love you too.’

-

Sunggyu came home to find a vase of fresh flowers on the kitchen bench. He grinned as he ran his fingertips slowly over the delicate petals, careful not to knock any of the beautiful yellow off the stems.

He went into his bedroom and found Woohyun missing. Of course he didn’t think much of it - His boyfriend came and went however he pleased without warning. He put up with it and so he grew accustomed to Woohyun’s disappearances as easily as his arrivals.

Before he could open up the fridge for something to eat, his phone vibrated in his pocket. He picked up the call, knowing it was his brother from the caller ID.

‘Hyung, where are you?’ Myungsoo panted through the speaker.

‘At home,’ Sunggyu said. Where else would he be and when the hell did Myungsoo even care where he went?

His brother sounded angry, only confusing Sunggyu even more. ‘Why the hell are you at home?!’ he snapped.

Sunggyu answered slowly, ‘Because I live here. What do you -‘

‘Woohyun’s in hospital.’

The last word made Sunggyu freeze. Hospital. Where humans are born, where sick or injured humans get treated, where humans die. It wasn’t a place Sunggyu visited often and he hoped he never would, but somehow something told him that was all going to change.

‘Hyung, are you there?’

‘I’m coming now.’

-

As soon as Sunggyu came to Woohyun’s hospital room, he saw a doctor coming out, clipboard in hand.

‘Is he going to be okay?’ he asked, desperately grabbing onto the doctors white sleeve.

‘He’s going to have to stay at the hospital,’ the doctor said, shaking Sunggyu off.

‘That doesn’t tell me anything,’ Sunggyu spat, losing his temper.

‘I’m not obligated or even permitted to tell you anything,’ the doctor emphasised sternly. ‘I’m sorry.’

After the doctor left, Sunggyu found Myungsoo leaning against the wall by the door. He gave him a knowing look and received a flick of the head towards the door. That meant he should go in. That meant he would be able to handle it.

Sunggyu poked his head through the gap in the door first, calling softly, ‘Woohyun…’

His skin was pale and his lips were chapped and Sunggyu could tell he was hurting, that he struggling. Nonetheless, seeing Sunggyu made a smile form at his lips, through the oxygen mask around his face. Even though his smile was so happy, Sunggyu had never seen him so weak.

‘Hey, beautiful,’ Woohyun breathed, only making Sunggyu feel even more guilty.

Sunggyu started crying, choking on his words, ‘Don’t beautiful me, you jerk.’

Woohyun’s smile faltered. ‘I’m really sorry,’ he exhaled, his voice cracking.

Sunggyu shook his head, wiped the tears away and growled, ‘Is it bad?’

‘Sunggyu -‘

‘Just answer me!’ he shouted, the tears now streaming down his face endlessly. ‘Is it bad?’ He already knew the answer. He knew since Myungsoo called him that it was bad, the worst.

‘I should have told you sooner,’ Woohyun said, and that was all Sunggyu needed to break down into painful, crying mess, kneeling in front of Woohyun’s bed. ‘I didn’t think I’d fall for you as much as I did… I didn’t think I’d want to stick around for as long as I did.’

Sunggyu couldn’t say anything. He hated Woohyun’s world for destroying his.

‘I’m sorry.’

-

Sunggyu came back the next morning, not that he could sleep. He looked like a wreck when he stepped back into Woohyun’s hospital room, dark bags under his eyes and lips bleeding from dehydration. Woohyun didn’t say anything about his state, unlike what he would do usually.

‘I was diagnosed when I was eleven,’ Woohyun explained without Sunggyu asking.

Sunggyu chuckled rather bitterly, playing with Woohyun’s cold fingers, ‘Then shouldn’t you have been in hospital?’

‘I was, but I got sick of not living properly,’ he elaborated, ‘I wanted to spend my last years doing something worth living for.’

Sunggyu repeated in his head don’t cry, not in front of him, suck it up, but when Woohyun combed through his hair with his fingers, Sunggyu couldn’t help it. He let it out, onto Woohyun’s dirty white bed sheets.

‘I told you to stop crying. It doesn’t really help me,’ Woohyun laughed, but Sunggyu didn’t find the hilarity.

Sunggyu coughed, ‘Do you think I could help it?’

Woohyun sat up, his strength restored from yesterday’s incident. ‘Come here,’ he chuckled, kissing Sunggyu’s forehead. ‘I love you.’

-

A few weeks had passed since Woohyun was admitted to hospital. Frankly, Sunggyu and Woohyun were both getting sick of white and blue. It had become an eyesore. Every day Woohyun was becoming tireder and tireder, and so he slept when Sunggyu was at school. Right after classes, Sunggyu came to his room with dinner and a few books. Woohyun never really liked reading, but he loved Sunggyu’s voice. He loved it when Sunggyu read to him and how he could tell how passionate his boyfriend was about words.

‘When you become a famous writer, you have to at least dedicate one book to me,’ Woohyun mentioned.

Sunggyu picked up a globule of rice up with his chopsticks and drenched it in curry. He then lifted it to Woohyun’s lips and shoved it into his mouth, knowing that Woohyun didn’t have much of an appetite these days.

‘I’ll even write a story about you, if you’d like,’ he said, giving himself a bite.

‘That would be amazing, but I know you’d turn me into some idiot that’s lovesick over you.’

‘But that would be truth.’ Sunggyu’s lips quirked, forming a lopsided toothless grin.

‘No, it would be far from it,’ Woohyun argued.

Sunggyu pouted immediately and tilted his head. ‘Really? You’re not lovesick over me?’ he mumbled in mock disappointment, knowing for a fact that Woohyun adored him.

Woohyun sighed in defeat. ‘Okay, just leave out the idiot part,’ he grunted childishly.

-

It was humid in Woohyun’s room. He wasn’t allowed to open the window because it was spring and the doctors told him the pollen wasn’t good for his lungs. Woohyun was suffocating from the thick air that he could practically feel his hands slicing through. Usually an open door would help the air flow, but no. It was a hospital filled with sick people who blew out steam. Sunggyu was sitting beside him, pretending he didn’t need to open the window or jump into a fucking bush for fresh air.

The nurse had come in the check up for a few seconds, obviously fake grin on her face as she mentioned something about blood circulation. Woohyun could tell she wanted to leave as soon as possible. There was something fishy about the nurse, Woohyun thought. He could tell he wasn’t really her favourite patient and Woohyun didn’t exactly blame her. He was disobedient even to people who were being paid to keep him alive.

Woohyun was going to ask Sunggyu to reopen the door, but instead of turning a doorknob, Sunggyu’s hand was pulling down Woohyun’s pants.

‘What are you doing?’ Woohyun laughed quietly, somewhat amused.

Sunggyu gave him a playful smirk as he hissed, his long fingers wrapping around Woohyun’s dick, ‘Shush.’

Woohyun felt something warm and wet, and so he had to throw his head back. That’s when he realised he was still strapped to the ECG machine

‘My heart rate is going to alert the nurses,’ Woohyun warned, holding back a loud groan as Sunggyu sucked his head, his teasing tongue drawing circles over it.

Sunggyu’s lips detached from Woohyun’s half-hard erection so he could mockingly say, calm down then, a strand of saliva still connecting them. Sunggyu’s mouth was suddenly sucking him again and Woohyun suffocated even more.

-

It was Sunday and so Sunggyu was able to spend most of his twenty-four hours at the hospital with Woohyun. They went through three books and two sappy movies. They ate cereal for breakfast, sushi for lunch (They were both almost in tears because of the wasabi) and Chinese for dinner. It was late when Sunggyu decided to go home - actually, it was like his first home. The second home was in his chair besides Woohyun’s bed. As he was heading towards the door, Woohyun began changing into thinner clothes that he could sleep in comfortably.

Sunggyu watched him and saw ribs.

‘Maybe I should sneak some pizza or something in tomorrow,’ Sunggyu commented, hiding his concern for Woohyun’s weight. He had been seeing him every day so he hadn’t realised how much more hollow Woohyun’s cheeks were and how noticeable his clavicles had become.

‘I’m really thin, aren’t I?’ Woohyun chuckled, feeling the eyes on him as he slipped a white tee on.

Sunggyu wet his lips. ‘Yeah, you rather are.’

-

Sunggyu hated assignments, no matter how excellent he was at what he was studying. He didn’t like the idea of being forced to write something, being given a deadline. He believed ideas took time, beauty took time. He had written part of his creative writing assignment, just a rough draft, but he gave it to Woohyun to read anyway. Woohyun never sugar-coated anything that was even vaguely to do with Sunggyu’s studies and Sunggyu’s future and Sunggyu’s wellbeing.

Woohyun’s eyes met the end of the last sentence of the last paragraph. He nodded, pursing his lips.

‘So do you like it?’ Sunggyu asked, his voice tinged with hopefulness.

‘Yeah,’ Woohyun said, pointing at the paper, ‘I especially like this part.’

Sunggyu smiled. ‘Which?’

Woohyun read out loud his favourite line, ‘In a glance, he could somewhat determine -’ But he started coughing, choking dangerously on his saliva. Sunggyu was on the verge of panicking, standing up so he could move around the bed and press the alert button. Luckily, Woohyun stopped and calmed down before he needed to. But when his eyes reopened and he looked at Sunggyu’s draft, he saw red and black. Sunggyu’s body trembled at the sight of blood dripping down Woohyun’s lip. He pressed the button.

‘Oh shit. I’m really sorry,’ Woohyun apologised, using his sleeve to wipe off as much blood as he could from Sunggyu’s assignment.

Sunggyu shook his head, grabbing his wrist. ‘No, it’s fine,’ he insisted.

-

They had similar tastes in music, so when Sunggyu brought over a CD player and the new album he bought, they listened to every song over twenty times each.

Woohyun’s eyes were half opened, a sheepish smile on his face as the sixth track replayed throughout the room. ‘I love this song,’ he murmured sleepily.

It was Sunggyu’s favourite of the album. ‘I love it too,’ Sunggyu said, caressing Woohyun’s cheek. He almost flinched when he did so - When did he get so cold? Sunggyu carefully pulled the sheets up to Woohyun’s chin, leaving a soft kiss to his chapped lips.

‘Sunggyu,’ came the nurse’s gentle voice.

Sunggyu turned around in surprise. ‘Yes?’

‘I think you should go,’ she asserted, calming smile making Sunggyu rather sceptical to leave. Sunggyu nodded nonetheless, petting Woohyun’s dishevelled hair.

‘I’ll see you tomorrow.’

Woohyun chimed, ‘Definitely.’

There was a cute wave, a quick bow and a dragged out goodbye.

-

Sunggyu sluggishly trudged out of the room, through the sterile hallways and to his car. He swung the door open, shut and then pulled on his seatbelt. His hands gripped the steering wheel and he peered through the glass. He could see the light of Woohyun’s room switch off - third from the right, second floor.

Whatever came over him was what he had been suppressing for months. He rested his forehead on the padded wheel and felt hot tears spill from his eyes. He sobbed quietly, his knuckles turning white as his mind clouded with thoughts of Woohyun.

In all honesty, no matter how much Sunggyu loved Woohyun, he hated living like this. He hated going home from the hospital every day in hope Woohyun would still be there the next. It was killing him on the inside.

-

The next afternoon, Sunggyu’s back by Woohyun’s side. The lack of conversation was telling them that they had run out of things to say, or rather, things they had the courage to say. Woohyun was the first to speak up, his hand easily finding Sunggyu’s. ‘I think it’s leaving an impact,’ he remarked, his voice hoarse. Sunggyu could tell he was tired of all of this.

‘What is?’ Sunggyu replied softly.

‘The meaning of existence,’ Woohyun claimed, ‘I think we live to be impactful on something, or someone.’

It took Sunggyu a moment to realise why Woohyun was saying these things all of the sudden, why he was talking about life. And he wished with all his heart that he was wrong.

‘When we leave life, our existence is still remembered,’ Woohyun continued, forcing back a coughing fit.

Sunggyu’s bottom lip trembled. He was right. Woohyun was going to leave.

‘It sounds like a load of sappy bullshit and it doesn’t really make any sense, but that’s what I believe.’

Sunggyu stood up, hovering over Woohyun’s body which was weakened from the battle he had been fighting in since the first day he realised Sunggyu meant more to him than life itself. Sunggyu cried, not bothering to restrain himself. ‘Please don’t go,’ he pleaded. ‘Please, I’m begging you. Don’t go.’

‘Don’t cry,’ Woohyun murmured, the back of his hand rubbing against Sunggyu’s cheek. The hand then fell back down like it had no life and Sunggyu cried harder. ‘You make me feel like a bad person.’

‘You’re not. That’s why you can’t go. You can’t,’ Sunggyu ranted desperately, clenching Woohyun’s hands, using all his strength to keep Woohyun’s hands warm.

Woohyun shook his head a little. He was crying too. ‘I don’t have a choice.’

‘Woohyun, please.’

‘I’ll never stop loving you.’

‘Woohyun…’

Sunggyu kneeled on the ground, burying his face into his arms as nurses and a doctor entered the room. They saw Sunggyu’s position and said nothing. They let Sunggyu drench Woohyun’s bed sheets, and clench the edge of his mattress and Woohyun’s cold hands until his knuckles were trembling.

He hated life because Woohyun left into forever.

-

Sunggyu had become sick of white, but he later found out that black wasn’t any better. In fact, it was probably worse. Woohyun looked amazing in a black-on-black suit. It made him look important.

That Spring day was the first time Sunggyu had seen Woohyun in a suit. It was also the first funeral he had been to in years and the first time he had spoken in front of so many people. Everyone loved Woohyun, he guessed.

The air was cold that morning and the sun was bright, and Sunggyu thought it reflected what he was feeling pretty well. He was numb and cold from crying so much, but he thought he looked nice in a suit. Woohyun would’ve thought so too.

He stood on the footpath outside the church, staring at the traffic that came and went. He felt a hand on his shoulder and then he heard a voice, ‘You going to be alright, hyung?’

Myungsoo gave his shoulder a light squeeze.

‘Yeah,’ Sunggyu whispered, looking towards the ground, the gentle breeze blowing a few strands of hair onto his face. He then smiled to himself - He and Woohyun had the same shoe size.

Myungsoo gave him a concerned look and so he assured again, ‘Yeah, I’ll be okay.’

Sunggyu knew he was going to be okay, everything was going to be alright, because Nam Woohyun existed.
