Thoughts on Dressage Freestyle

I just finished watching Steffen Peters and Ravel...wow. I've never really watched them go before. And of course, Ravel is reaching the end of his career, so he's not as incredible as he once was, I'm sure. But I was so impressed--so touched--by the sympathetic ride Peters gave the old boy. I think Parzival is actually mostly in self carriage *despite* Cornellisen, or at least that is what I saw today. He was still very much up under himself and doing his very best to correctly lift his back and work over his topline. I just thought that Cornellisen was getting in the way. And I definitely noticed that Parzival was actively gaping his mouth at times, which I why I was particularly disappointed in her high score.

I have not seen any other bits of dressage, so I will limit my comments to what I saw today. But my goodness! You certainly have right to be proud of your countrywomen (and man!). They put in stunning performances and I was overjoyed to see them rewarded for it. Go Team GB!

Dressage may as yet be the whitest sport in the world but I'm pretty happy to be represented by a team that consists of two women and one gay man :)
