Just a Little Rant About H50

May 01, 2012 19:01

Please feel free to skip this... I posted this on the H50 forum and just felt I needed to post it here. Spoilers for H50.

For as much as I enjoy this cross over event - I hope Danny punches Steve so hard his father feels it and Kono and Chin get to have a shot. You leave your team with only a Dear Danny note? And I know the writers had to do some quick work to explain Alex's absence but I truly hope they make something out of this problem. Steve's faith and trust in his team seems to only extend to business at hand for the island or hanging out with friends. His own personal problems and/or issues cannot or will not be shared among the team. It's like he wants everyone's total trust but he's not going to trust them to help... I have a bad feeling the writers will gloss over the whole thing by Steve saying, "I couldn't take you away from Grace," or something about them being in danger. Which I feel is epic bullsh*t because. like I said before, he can take his team into horrible situations time and time again, but when he has a problem that is dangerous, he just takes off... And then Danny will be angry for a NANO-SECOND and we'll move to the next case. I just hope the writers address this.

I just felt I needed to make myself heard. Let me know what everyone else thinks (agree or disagree).

I got the following response:

I disagree with your comments. Steve McGarrett has to find the killer of his parents. He cannot take his whole team with him to Japan. He himself must solve the Shelburne mystery and capture the super villain Wo Fat. After all, H50 team must remain in Hawaii to protect the island and help solve crimes on a daily basis. All will be explained in episode 222, "Caught" which will be aired on May 7, 2012. Stay tuned, please! I am confident in the creative writers on H50.

My response was:

I can totally understand Steve needing to put an end to this horrible case that took his father's life. That will weigh on his mind and heart until it's taken care of. And I know it would never be realistic (and I wouldn't expect him to) to take his entire team to Japan. No I understand having to do that alone. My issue lies with his leaving a note and just taking off. I mean, I know Danny would probably try to talk him out of it but I would then think that Danny would either let him go or he could take off after that. Maybe I'm not making any sense. It just seems like Steve wants his team to confide in him about everything but doesn't reciprocate. I mean, if the situation was reversed, I know damn well, that Steve would use every SEAL trick in the book, call in every favor he could to find and help Danny. Plus, since Steve has taken off, Danny has tried to call him hundreds of times and knows Steve is ignoring his calls. I just think, to Danny's character, that is like a slap in the face of a friendship that you've kind of relied on. I guess I'm just really hoping that it will be dealt with. I like the writing for H50 and just hope they keep the level I've come to expect.

I got another response that that made me think to add some more:
I know Alex had to leave for personal reasons and being a huge fan of his from other shows like Moonlight, I want to see him healthy and at his best. I completely understand that the storyline was changed for the absence of Alex. I just feel the writers have an opportunity to delve into some more Steve and Danny related drama and would like to see it to fruition. Please don't mistake this issue as hating Hawaii Five-0. I have been a fan from the beginning and, while I may not care for some of the episodes, characters, or story lines, I will continue to watch and enjoy this show. I can't wait for the episode where Alex will be back and we can find out more about his parents' deaths. I would like for his character to get some closure - even if it will be not the kind he is looking for.

If anyone is a fan and wants to add anything, feel free; no judgements here. I love discussion and sometimes it helps me to better explain myself.
