So My roommate and I have been smelling a LOT of natural gas. We went downstairs and found the girls there had left their gas fireplace on and it STANK. We turned it off. It started to smell less, but we're still rather worried

Er... well, it could potentially be bad, but if you're not dizzy or anything it's not too bad. Luckily with natural gas you just have to keep with the fresh air to get rid of danger. I know I'm a little late with this, but today keep your windows open if you're still feeling paranoid, and tonight it will be fine.

Opening the windows should really help. I would have phoned the landlord - a gas leak does qualify as an emergency. Since you found the fireplace downstairs was left on, it seems you placed the issue.
