i went to the ballet today. it was called Manon. it was suPREME. i also went to the opera last week. la triviata. they were both my birthday present from my dad. the royal opera is quite an extravaganza. and i wasn't even in the nosebleedest of nosebleed sections, for manon i was in the balcony, which is second floor, which was pretty good ( Read more... )

Very true, about the attractive people romance thing. I don't like the ballet either, it is just so boring to me. Give me a musical any day of the week.

true, ballet can suck as well, some of the ones i've seen with gail have been really boring, but i always brushed that off to the pnb being crap. but this line of thinking can be extended to all singing and dancing. one of the things i that makes a really good musical is crazy good dancing. see: chicago. of course there are exceptions, phantom has no dancing and is superb.

oh i forgot to say, as for the weird opera crowds, case in point: lulu. need i say more.

Oh, and strawberries and cream are amazing. When I visited my cousins in Wales a few years ago that is one of my fondest memories, it probably goes down as one of my favorite meals of all time. So simple, yet so amazingly delicious.

Wow! I'm getting cultured ecuadorian style, I just bought El Fantasma de la opera, which of course is the PHANTOM OF THE OPERA, for $2.25. I love the ballet! Rachel, let's be like Benigno and Marco in Talk to Her, and cry at ballets. You can be Benigno. But maybe I'll come and save you from killing yourself before its too late.

Well, I don't know how the film will turn out this time. Maybe if you still leave me your house and promise not to be a stalker. I bought Talk to Her tambien, so the moment we are both on the same continent we will watch it.

Also, ugly people in operas, that is like, a thing. They have to be huge to get the voices, and so stop imposing your western-eurocentric bullshit ideals of beauty on THEM

that is a lie and a half about needing to be fat. i know you've seen phantom of the opera...are they fat?! well, actually the one guy is, but he doesn't count.
