it had been at least an hour before he decided to check on her. excessive movement wasn't something he wanted to do, as it was pretty apparent that the little campfire trio was quickly running out of time. when she stood up and ambled away, he knew she wouldn't be back for a while. he knew this would happen. he wasn't surprised.
he was never, ever surprised.
but he couldn't help staring in silence for a moment or two when he placed his fingers against her neck and felt no pulse, an unreadable expression on his face. his gaze rose up - the sky looked nice behind that fan of leaves - and he was soon sitting as well.]
