tomorrow will be the beginning of PRIDE week at UNCG. this is basically designed to create awareness, tolerance, and understanding of different sexual lifestyles on campus and in the world at large. through some sort of bureaucratic mess-up it has also been designated as morals week by the campus republicans. the irony is very amusing and possibly ( Read more... )

I don't necessarily have any interest in being at a PRIDE event, but I do have an interest in showing the Republicans that they're supporting a party of hate-mongers. They spread violence and wreak havoc.

So, this week at WCU the CR have also decided to have a pride week. their campaign ads and slogan is the word morals with a cross through it, and underneath this message: Is this you? If not come to the College Republicans events on the lawn this week! (implying that anyone of moderate, democratic, and third party political views lacks morals completely) so that's one strike. the second thing that really bugs me about this obviously uneducated and unthought out campaign are the days that they're supporting. one being a "pro life day" I'm a liberal, and i don't believe in abortion. it's so silly to attempt to clump all liberals into one category, not all liberals are pro-choice. another day that really bothers me is the P.E.T.A day (people eatting tasty animals) and while the acronym did make me giggle, (any i myself am not a vegetarian) in no way is someone's dietary choice based on their political affiliation. strike 2. the last thing that is driving me nuts is the way that they're poking so heavily at the gay pride movement. the gay ( ... )

Yeah, it sounds pretty ridiculous, although from what it sounds like all they're doing is trying to upset people. I still don't understand why people think morals come from religion, much less a political party.
