Yes, you need more criticism, but not for that reason. You need more crticism so you can be able to handle it better. I'm not trying to be mean, but getting this worked up over ONE negative comment is rather pathetic.
if it is the opinion of someone you respect and want approval from, it makes more of a difference as well
go kick someone else on their bruises, you always complaine anyway. sometimes i need to vent and I don't take it out on other people like you do, so you don't have to bother me when i do that
there is a comment for you and mandy both under the reply i posted to her, good thing you got to me first XP *chuckles* i hope you're living a happy and successfl life. but if you're not, as i said in the other note, i can't care cause it will just make me sad for you guys cause i still care about you both very deeply even though you both seem to loath me. its an interesting situation for all of us
Kim, dear, Steve was not complaining, nor was he tring to hurt you. "I'm not trying to be mean..."His point was that life is not usually a string of sunshine, daisies, bunnies, and approving compliments on your artwork. But one but one tiny criticism shouldn't ruin a piece. It for sure shouldn't cast a shadow over your entire mood.
Criticism where you expected praise, well, praise is nice, but criticism helps you improve, you know. Next time you draw, you'll more than likely pay more attention to how you draw your arms.
You don't need to expect fewer comments. In the "It builds character" sense, yes, more criticism would be good for you. We were supposed to deal with this in second grade, anyway. "John said my curly shoelaces looked funny, so I was sad for the rest of the day. :( "

mmh, you both kinda missed it, it was a mood i was already in, not something brought on by the silly artwork issue anyway, and besides, you still don't seem to be aware, dear, that in my case life IS sunshine and daisies and all that stuff you seem to scorn when you don't fully grasp the concept of the beauty in everything anyway. i was more complaining about my inability to deal with critiquing when already in a negative mindset, and on the mindset itself. that is depression for me, doubt in myself. seems everyone has their day(s) for feeling low, and I am always up in the air anyway, of course i am gonna be bothered by something every once in a while. more on top of that isn't helpful to me

Heh... I was about to say that i know about feeling unusual and uncomfortable, but about complements instead of criticisms, but i guess i got here too late.
I'm glad you're out of your slump. I will continue to keep you and your fam-i-lee in my prayers, for to ward off slumps and such.

Greg, thank you for your prayrs, this is what i have in return for you and steve and mandy and everyone http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vr3x_RRJdd4&NR and I am sure that steve has seen it, and mandy too, and possibly you. but again, this is more my philosophy on life and everything, and this is the state i have returned to, and i thank you, and mandy and steve, for your cirticism, support, friendship, everything you have given to me. Also, I plan to actually do a "free Hugs" thing in Ann Arbor over the summer at elast once on the diag and lily wants to video it, you are all invited to join, we are going to see how many people we can get involved. peace be with you
