For those wanting to know more about the recent DDoS attacks, yes, it looks like it was the Russian government trying to shut down the dissidents again.

It annoys me to see people say they're leaving LJ because of the DDoS, as if no other site can be subject to them, as if LJ is at the root of the problem - the ones causing the down time.

I am in complete agreement with this statement. I can't believe people are leaving LJ because of this. This is a time when we should be stating our support of LJ and how much we want it to stay around!!!

Lj s owned by a Russian company and it's the most popular blogging and social networking sie in Russia. Dissidents are using it to report issues the government doesn't like.

I don't think the servers are there. LJ was originally based out of Seattle. I think the Russian company just pays the bills.
