Ok this maby sound dumb but on step 6 the frist s/c you say Duplicate this layer twice but how do you do that, as i can only duplicate one of the s/c layers not them all.

Hmm, I'm not quite sure I understand your question...After you created that first selective coloring layer you should have just 1 s/c layer. Select that layer and go to Layer > Duplicate Layer and then press OK. Repeat that step and you should now have 3 s/c layers. If it helps, here's a pic of what your layers should look like: Layers. I'm sorry if that confused you more than helped you :-S If you still need help, lemme know. I'll try to better explain :)

Judging from the little arrows next to your layers, I'd say you're creating a clipping mask, instead of duplicating the original layer (this happens when you push command + G). After you get rid of the layer mask (by going to Layer > Release Clipping Mask) to duplicate your first s/c layer, select and press command + J (not G) and then press command + J again to get your third (second duplicate) s/c layer. You can then change the opacity of the layers as seen in the tutorial.
