I spent all day eating and laying around watching DVDs, first the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles I gave my little brother, and then the Supernatural he gave me. I also got four good books and a copy of We ♥ Katamari. I am a happy camper ( Read more... )

Post a review of At Swim, Two Boys when you're done! I've been wanting to read it for a long time, just haven't gotten around to buying it.

Where in VA? That's where I live! =]

Massanutten? I have no idea where it is in relation to anything else, honestly. Hell, I'm still learning MD geography. It's bad.

At Swim, Two Boys is good. (I had it kidnapped from the library this summer.) The beginning is a bit slow, but the writing is lovely, and Jim and Doyler are Remus and Sirius so much it hurts, though actually I love MacMurrough, their 'mentor' of sorts, the most. He's so twisted! And yet still a good guy.

But yes. Definitely read it when you get the chance.

Ah! And icon love.

Good Omens and At Swim, Two Boys are two of my favorite books EVER. And I want to say that Annie Proulx is the woman that wrote Brokeback Mountain. . .?

MINE TOO. And yep, she is. And I'm more and more impressed with the movie, because so many scenes are pulled out of little one-line references that are just background in the story. Maybe short stories do make better movies. Hmm.

I haven't actually seen the movie yet, but that's because of my parents and the whole R rated thing.

The story was devestating, though. I cried for an hour, I think, and I was just, like, "Jaaaaaaaaack. Noooooooo."

I got Good Omens, too! But mine's on paperback because that's the way I like books best. And snowboarding I found really, really hard to do without falling on my butt. But I haven't got the greatest balance, anyway, so whatever. Just be careful when you get off the ski lifts because that's when I fell on my face for a change. Fun stuff!

We actually ended up doing no skiing OR snowboarding. The closest we came was snow tubing, which requires no skills other than running, flopping, and hurling yourself head-first down a hill. Though there were the occasional human hazards out there with shovels, so it was a little perilous, I suppose. But almost nothing else was open, so I didn't get a chance to do myself serious harm. Tragic.
