...just busy. I'm teaching a five-week summer course on Robin Hood, which is wonderful fun. There is Douglas Fairbanks. And Jonas Armstrong.

I have also written another book review for Science Fiction Studies that should be out in November, and am attempting a new project, which is a co-written article for a book about medievalism and video games.

I'd love to hear more about your course. (The last screening of the Fairbanks film I attended - and I presume you were somewhere in the building at the time - was a delightful experience as a couple LJ/Dreamwidth friends and I started deconstructing the film. As Richard seemed to be like a father/pimp at the beginning trying to get his son laid, and then became oddly jealous when Huntingdon stopped being afeared of women

When was this screening? I feel like I must have been there, and yet I do not remember conversations about Richard-the-secretly-pining-pimp. (One of my freshmen has already tried to argue that Robin Hood and Little John in the Disney version have homoerotic overtones in the beginning, and that the film's narrative is concerned with correcting these impulses. I'm not sure whether to applaud him or be depressed
