This meme has got my brain going in all kinds of interesting directions.
I should know better by now than to peruse Fred's livejournal archive unless my brain is prepared for the consequences
each of us has a unique perspective on the world - ideas on how it could be improved, standards for behavior, values, morals, etc.
When it boils down to it (we're talking gross oversimplification), Jesus was just a man with some halfway decent ideas about the way we should treat each other and the world who had the good fortune to reach a large, receptive audience.
imagine, if you will, what would happen if your ideology were to be recorded and, through a series of rather interesting and convoluted events, ended up shaping the lives of millions upon millions of people, not to mention the entire world, hundreds of years down the road.
consider the idea that each of us could be a Messiah.
then cringe in terror at the implications.
