"Gilded Castle"...

[he's standing barefoot at the gates to said castle, staring up at it with the kind of smirk someone has when they're humoring a bad joke. wondering aloud is broadcasting aloud; the new seal is bound around his dexterous hand - he'll have to gnaw the strap if he wants it off. but...eh, he'll worry about it later ( Read more... )

[ooc; Both Alexander and Edel can post to this if they want, seeing as they're meeting outside. We can even make it a three-way, if you feel so inclined.

When they get inside the castle itself, they're free to notice the disgruntled redhead taking a break from his bedroom and sitting in a chair, looking out the window, seal sitting nearby so he can listen to it. He's been recently affected by the peculiar epidemic going around Splendor a bit, so he's currently not looking or feeling his best, and when he hears the door open, he picks his head up and stares at the source of the noise confusedly, squinting a little in the hopes of seeing who it is a little better.

Whoever it is... they don't look familiar...]

[oh baby.

perhaps sickly Luke will enjoy the slightly off-key humming of an unknown tune? it echoes really nicely in such a vast place - Alex really couldn't resist after hearing his bare feet slap on the marble floor so nicely.

depending on the floor of this room in question, perhaps it's only a brief catch of a note, or maybe it's been going on for a while. either way, it's interrupted now and then with a few chance discoveries: a funny-looking statue here, a painting there...the most recent of which will send Alex's eyes upward as he walks, noting the ceiling decor.

it's all pretty ridiculously over-the-top, he thinks. but he kind of likes it. it's silly.

he starts up another note as he drops his gaze, peripherals catching that bit of motion in the room and halting. he tilts his head as he looks over, noting a face.

smile.]

This is...your floor, yes? Hello.

[ Edel folds his arms upon Alexander's words. He really doesn't know if he should be associated with this man at this point... ]

You should stop assuming that of everyone you meet. And-

[ *whoa* Luke, the hell is wrong with you? Edel takes a step forward to see if he can get a better look. As a potion alchemist, he's a little bit weary about the boy ]

... Are you ill?

[ooc; Sorry for any slowness, I'm not exactly sure how what Luke/anybody knows about the poison and the cause of his current condition/the poison/etc. I am gonna have to handwave some stuff as is]

[The rash is looking a lot redder and raw-er than it did when it first appeared, owing to him scratching at it somebody's never had chicken pox, but his eyes look about the same - blurry and semi-focused at best. There's nothing else wrong with him otherwise - he only got the water in his skin and eyes, after all.

Huh. There's two of them.]

Uh... I don't know. It started a couple days ago, and some other people've been getting it too. But I think the people down at the clinic said they don't think it's... contagious.

[Still, what are they doing here. He hasn't seen them before, and he's been here nearly a week.]

So are you guys staying here too?

[LJ YOU MASSIVE TOOL LET ME REPLY TO THREADS...]

Other people getting sick with you is contagious. [so Alex is content to stay at the room door, still smiling, rather averse to getting diseased barely a day into his new adventure.

as for staying...]

We have keys. Is a sign of something, yes? But there is no one here welcoming guests from what I see.

[ Edel wasted no time, after all- he wasn't lying when he mentioned it was an alchemist's duty to help the people. He pulled out a pair of spare gloves from his vest pocket and put them on. ]

Stay out of the way, will you? If anything, you might be the lucky fellow to live if a plague were to hit this place.

[ He turned to Luke and, ever so carefully, walked further towards him. ]

Something's ailing you, then? Do you know if it's magical? Chemical? Have you digested anything? It looks almost as if it's spreading by contact...

[ He wasn't much of a healer- in fact, Edel wasn't known to be a medical cleric by any means. He could create potions, yes, but he never administered them himself. He simply knew basic first aid- it was always Lawrence's job to protect and heal others. Edel's ability... was more of a backup pharmacist. To nullify a poison wasn't a difficult task, it just involved careful thought. ]

Don't move. We just arrived, though. I saw him standing in front of the door and- and well, I too had a key...

I guess that means you're staying here. [He holds up his own key, which he's kept around for lack of anything else to really keep around...

WHOA WAIT WHAT WHAT IS THIS.

Nobody else had been making that big a deal of this yet - then again They might have been a bit more concerned that the head of the clinic had collapsed. Goodness knows Luke had been.]

Uh... I-I don't think it's a plague or anything... Everything just looks really fuzzy and arms and face hurt and itch. [he holds up his arms a little, more so he can look down and inspect them himself as best he can. By this point though, the irritation has made the rash impossible to distinguish with his blurry vision. He frowns trying to remember] I... don't really know what did it... I was just out exploring the town, I think. And I was on my way back when it started.

[yes, yes, FINE, St. Helena, go be a girly nurse. Alex don't curr. it's boring to him.

a controlled SIGH, leaning, bouncing his back against the frame of the door.]

Staying and not serving...and it is not a prison, hm?

[ I swear to god Alexander :|||

Since Edel has better things on his mind right now, like a diseased replica he's ignoring your influxes. ]

Did you drink or eat anything? It could be airborne... which would make us already...

[ WELP. ]

A-Anyway, Have you heard anything? There must be some sort of broadcast, isn't there? No deaths, I hope? A simple itch could lead to worse problems.

[ He sighs ]

Honestly, you're far less worried than you should be. Your health is your number one prio-

[ and he stops suddenly to laugh- laugh incredulously. No, not at you right now, Alexander. At himself. ]

I'm starting to sound like my uncle. Fantastic.

[ooc; Fun fact, I think Luke's the only one who's been affected purely externally, so if anyone were to look, his symptoms would be pretty unique on their own]

[Luke shrugs halfheartedly at Alex's question. Gilded Castle itself wasn't a prison of any sort, but Splendor itself... was a different story. Sorta. Man, being stuck inside always made him feel trapped.

He's still leery about Edel's questions though]

D-deaths!? N-no, I don't think so... Asch said something about "chicken pox" or something when I talked to him, but I don't think that's it. A-and my cousin Natalia was talking on the seals when she got sick, but... she passed out, and I haven't heard of anybody else doing that...

[And... he's honestly trying to think what might've caused this... and... he's able to make a little progress.]I don't remember eating or drinking anything. I was... exploring Splendor... I went through the park and the city [Metropolis District]... then the beach [Bungalows]... On my way back, I stopped by this one fountain in that small woody ( ... )
