This stupid no violence rule. How far does it go? [Artemis seems really bored, which she is. She's been itching to get out and use her bow, but because of the no violence rule, she hasn't yet.

And it was driving her crazy.]

Haven't got to practice archery since I got here. If I'm not shooting at a person, it's fine, right? [Better be, anyways.] ( Read more... )

In my experience, the rule targets the intention behind an action, rather than the action itself. Sparing and practicing shouldn't be a problem as long as you don't go in with the intent to harm. That's hardly 'stupid', if you ask me.

[...There might be a slightly irritated edge to his voice; Riku is still a bit exhausted and his last week was quite a bit too emotionally draining for his taste.]

Glad to hear that's the case. [She hears the irritated tone, and matches it with her own.]

Wanna know why I think it's stupid? Because I don't get how we're supposed to defend ourselves if others don't obey the rules. If we can't fight, how are we supposed to stop them?

[Irritation rising here.]

Nobody said that you can't fight to defend yourself. As I said, it's all about intention. Besides the locals usually break up fights before they get too violent.

[So much irritation.]

Well that's exactly why I was asking! Geez. [Huffing a bit.] Okay, intentions, great. I'll keep that in mind. [Though she'll probably get herself into trouble, wanting to hurt Wally...]

You're telling me! It's really a stupid rule. Like half the people here probably don't even follow it.

Seriously? Geez, this place really wants to keep us under control. [But now she can't help but wonder what her exploding arrows would do....]

Oh? Would you care to practice with another who wields the bow? I have excellent aim.

You use a bow too? [Smirking. Hmm, it would be nice to train with a fellow archerer.]

Sure. Sounds great.

When's good for you? Don't exactly have much to do right now, myself.

Don't know I'd really test the whole no-violence thing, but.

...Have you even really seen a reason for it?

For the rule? My guess is to keep dangerous people from being dangerous. But like they'd actually obey it. Seems pointless to me.

Well, no, I meant have you really seen reason for violence? Seems this place is pretty chill.

[Oh, right. Sorry, she's very one-track minded.]

Only if necessary. Just because the place is chill doesn't mean all the people that are here are.
