[The voice feed clicks on. In the background, if one were to listen closely, they could hear the splashing sound of a familiar water fountain in the Wonderland District. There's a few moments of silence before the person begins to speak.]Some people have been here for a really long time, huh? Months... even though months are so much shorter here ( Read more... )

[Luck had taken to walking on days he felt restless, but he had yet to find anything as distressing as a child looking as helpless as this redhead did.

He pauses, debating whether to approach him for a moment. Instead, he settles on keeping his distance -- and questioning in a tone reserved for children.]

Are you alright?

[Indeed, keeping your distance was probably a wise place to start. Luke - who turned upon hearing the sound of words - is still working on facial recognition, but he knows enough to see that this person is unfamiliar. And they were saying words to him. What did they say? He'd been too preoccupied staring at this unfamiliar person he didn't know...

At least further away they don't seem so big or scary (yet), so rather than shrinking back, he'll just stand next to the fountain, clutching at the rim. Staring.]

[Luck remains where he is, staring back at the small redhead. Well, at least he hadn't run away on him yet. Luck clears his throat, trying again.]

Are you lost?

[Lost... lost is a word he kind of knows. When he couldn't find something, Guy would always ask if it was lost. Was he lost? But he could find himself! He didn't really have any idea that there was a different kind of "lost" out there. It was hard to get lost in a manor where you were under almost constant supervision.

Luke shakes his head. It's not true though, he has absolutely no idea where he is.]

[It is a well-known fact that House Fabre has very stupid genes, as kindly demonstrated by one pint-sized replica who will shortly be joined by yet another redhead - this one decidedly more in-the-know.]

[Asch casts a spare glance over at the fountain - it'd been easy enough to figure out where the idiot had gone to with the sound of running water in the background, and then the poison episode from some weeks ago...]

[Stopping a few feet away, Asch crosses his arms and looks down disapprovingly at a Luke who is half the size but, he suspects, twice the trouble. What a pain.]

Was this the only thing you could find to do?

[Sorry Asch, one of the things Luke's accidental wish specified was forgetting, so Luke's got all the memories of his six month-old self. Meaning he barely understood a word of that. He does know that voice is angry though, and thus upon hearing Asch's voice, he turns and wobbles, reaching out to cling to a nearby lamppost.

Wait. You... person you. You look (and feel) kind of familiar. Kind of like Mother and Father, right (even though he's still learning to recognize them as his parents)? Is he maybe supposed to know you? Luke steps out (a little wobbily) from behind the lamppost, and reaches a hand out and points at Asch, a confused and curious look in his eyes. Who are you? Answer please.]

[What's this? He's hiding? Ha! Luke should be ashamed by how pathetic this situation is. Of all the stupid wishes to make (even if the pot's calling the kettle black)! But the longer Asch watches him, the more he begins to realize. There's no apology or answers or complicated thoughts in those eyes.]

You idiot..! Don't tell me you--

[Nothing's there but the curiosity of an absolute child who's never seen him before. Asch snorts, and by now his anger's been wasted and his voice has grown oddly quiet.]

...You did.

Humph. You can't even talk, can you?

Reply

[Action] youngest10yrold June 9 2011, 21:14:44 UTC
[He can indeed talk a little, but he doesn't recognize the question. And you didn't answer his. But... at least you're not angry at him anymore? So Luke will settle for pouting and lowering his hand. Of course, he hadn't actually asked his question aloud, but it's not like he's greatest at expressing himself right now anyway. Not to mention he didn't really know how to ask the question - he knew everybody at the manor, after all.

He wants to get a closer look at this big person who looks like Mother and Father but isn't them, though. Tentatively, he lets go of the lamppost and takes a few shaky steps closer, until he can look up at this strange new person, making a soft questioning sound. You're tall...]

[Here, have a one year old magical mafia baby, that'll totally help.]

My. [Step step, picking up the seal and walking towards Luke] This seems to be happening to quite a few people lately.

[Lucky for you Reborn is quite strong for his size.]

Walking can be quite the ordeal, really. [Presses the seal into Luke's hand and tugs him upwards. At least enough for him to get his face off the ground]

[Yuri wanders as always. He wasn't really paying any attention to the seal as he was walking along to where the foutain was. Then he noticed the red head kid. That...really looked like someone]

Wait...Luke?

[Wait. Someone said his name. And it wasn't one of those maids or Mother so it had to be Guy, right? Luke looks around, but... that's not Guy... And those other guys always wore that fancy shiny stuff that clanked when they walked. This guy wore dark clothing and had purple hair. He'd never seen anything like that before... Why are your clothes and hair like that?

But still... where was Guy? Guy had had said his name, right?]

Guy?

[Translation: Do you know where he is?]

[He - for a small second there- couldn't really tell if he was asking if he was a guy or not, or Guy was somoene he was looking for. He noticed that the kid was too confused to recognize him, or at least that's how it looked. So, he kneeled down to little Luke's height and smiled, shakinghis head slightly]

Sorry, I'm Yuri. Are you looking for him?

action. youngest10yrold June 9 2011, 19:57:44 UTC
[The height difference and smile made difference. While using Luke's name had kept him from shrinking back, he was still slightly uneasy. Now that Yuri wasn't towering over him height-wise, Luke unconsciously relaxed a little, and was able to focus more on trying to understand what he was saying.

He was saying his name right? Some people had told him their names before... not very often though, it wasn't like there were staff changes at the Fabre manor very often, especially now that they had the security of their youngest member to consider.

However the part that Luke cares most apart was the answer to his own question: where was Guy. And the words "looking for" were familiar. Guy would ask them whenever he couldn't find something. And he couldn't find Guy right now!

He nods.]

[Wandering is something a puppy without an owner is bound to do, and so that's what he does. He's always been somewhat fascinated by this fountain, though--it's really colorful!--so Chibi makes sure to visit it at least once a day.]

[And what does he find today, but--]

[...?]

[What is it with all these people with red hair? And they all look exactly the same! Actually this one looks closer to the guy with the sword and the dummies than the grumpy man. And he looks kind of confused.]

[Headtilt. Barkbark? Hey there, Mr. Kid Hair, are you okay?]

[There is a STRANGE THING making STRANGE NOISES at him. There were birds and things back at the manor, but any animals larger than a squirrel were usually caught and removed before too much time had passed. Luke lets out a little squeak of fright and ducks down, scrambling backwards with one hand gripping the side of the fountain for balance. He follows it along its rim until Chibi is slightly out of sight.]

[He hangs back there for a little while, before curiosity overtakes his fear, enough that his head peeks up over the top of the fountain. Okay, now that he looked at it, it wasn't as scary... all white and pretty, and fluffy-looking. He edges back around towards Chibi, just a little, ready to duck back at the slightest provocation.]

[...?]

[Hello there, Mr. Kid Hair!]

[He's kind of upset that he scared the poor kid before, he didn't mean to, he's really not that scary. He'll be more gentle now.]

[So he pads forward really slowly, trying to look as non-threatening as possible, tongue hanging out in a canine grin. He doesn't bark this time, but his tail's wagging.]

[Hi! Are you okay?]
