well. perhaps you have estranged company, or maybe it's just coincidence he's there, but Alex absolutely cannot let a situation like this go without inspecting. he's not one for stealth, so spotting him now and then isn't difficult.

[ Was it night? Was it day? It was so hard to tell now. The hours slipped by without so much a change. Edel would light his lantern every now and then, carrying it around with him perhaps as a mean of protection or- well, really, mostly out of curiosity at this point. He was fine with being holed up in his room, but this was...

... eerie, to say the least. Every once in a while, his lantern would flicker and dance, but he refused to conduct magic to it. It was better to go... natural with these sorts of things. You never knew what sort of consequence could happen when a foul wind was around.

And so, he walked quietly- and carefully down the street. The light danced around him as it swayed back and forth, but beyond the beacon laid nothing more than darkness. As far as he extended it, it felt like the darkness was swallowing what little light there was. Even with this lantern, his visibility was only slightly better than worse, you could say. ]

[ And finally, Edel figured out how to light the match and thus, the lantern. ]

I'd hardly be impressed by anything you'd do, Darkov.

[ He scoffs. ] Such juvenile delinquencies...

How very unkind. [the lamp lights up his snickering grin he's sporting.] Why are you wandering in here now, Edel?

[ He ignored that comment. Rightfully so. ]

[ He pauses, of course he's not going to look at Alexander. ] ... Situations like these don't just happen because they want to.

[but Alex looks at him throughout, his eyebrow threatening a more definite quirk if he were to stop keeping his expressions in check.]

[ He looks at him with the most unamused look. ]

Probably nothing. [ It was true. ] Probably nothing you'd like, I should say. For now, it's simply a matter of collecting data and determining whether this is...

[ choose your words carefully, Edel. ] ... other-worldly.

[ He looks off distantly beyond the glow of the lantern, perhaps in thought. Edel likes to think. ]

[cut to the quick! Alex sits in a musing silence, rocking in his position for but a moment before delivering a very nonchalant shrug.]

I will always be doing something because I cannot do nothing. True enough, yes? [enjoy that dodge; he's getting up, now.]

[ NOPE. You're going to get cut off whether you like it or not! ]

W-Wait a minute! Just where do you think you're going? Don't just go about and cause trouble-!

[he lets out a PAINED SIGH.]

I stand up barely and I am accused? Edel...

[ He frowns. ]

You act as if it's an accusation without a basis behind it! I'm simply worried! An eclipse is one thing, but if it is accompanied by chimera, or demons--

[treading over his words in a wearied, rather patronizing kind of way:] Those things were here to start Edel. That eclipse-thing has not changed the fact.

[ He clams up, unsure of how to react to that. ]

You do not know where to look. Or how. [but them's the breaks! he's not really put off by it. you're just a silly human with unfortunate magic tendencies that need ever been seen or referenced ever again lest you break my worldviews.] I do.

[ He looks away. Wondering. Wondering? Wondering if he's talking about magicians. ]
