....A lantern? [It isn't floating, of course, but just the shape is enough to make her stare at it, almost longingly.]

Convenient use of lighting when magic isn't really an option. It's always a good idea to keep emergency supplies at hand. [ He taps the lantern carefully, causing it to flicker just a bit. ]

I'm not sure but... all I know is that wishes aren't working.

[Said because with two people from his own world whom he's had to explain Splendor to today alone, he's tried to demonstrate, or at least get them to. And of course, nothing happened. It's making him realize uncomfortably how much he's come to rely on them, even in such a short space of time.]

The wishes are not working? [Rapunzel herself had not yet noticed. She didn't wish for things too often, but this was disconcerting, that this eclipse might be the reason. It seemed to be, at least. She couldn't recall wishes not working before.] They are messing up, or....not working at all?

Like... I try to wish for something, and nothing happens. [Luke probably mostly used wishes for things like food - since his own cooking's not the greatest, and also for occasional conveniences, like a torch or lantern on a night like this.]

That's odd....but the wishes have always worked before. Even if they didn't, they would show some sign of being successful, if taken literally and not quite what one asked for. [A frown. This was strange. And she is not sure she likes it.]

Yes, at least, it seems that way. I've never heard of the wishes not working before.
