Casting the Light Fantastic

[Negi's out and about today, doing some spellwork in the park and trying to clear his mind a little. There was a lot of things he needed to think about as he worked on the basics of spells. Having set up a barrier, there's muted explosions happening in the corner of the sky as he fires spell after spell at it ( Read more... )

[Junpei's walking around trying to find people interested in law enforcement, when he notices a young boy firing spells out. Wait... spells? Where's his Persona?]

Hey kid...!

[Can't just blurt out Persona.]

You're ... using magic attacks...?

[Negi looks up and waves at him.]

Yes I am actually. Just testing out the flow of energy again.

Flow of ... energy?

[This confuses him a bit, but then again this place makes anything possible. Maybe it's like the magic off of tv.]

That's pretty cool kid. What kind of magic can you use?

Fire, ice, darkness, light, wind, lightning... all sorts really. This is just a regular attack spell to be honest.

[He grins at that.] Oh I'm Negi, Negi Springfield. Nice to meet you.

[ Edel could only freeze into place upon what he just walked into. It was a practice of magic, wasn't it? He was used to these sights, certainly! He was! But this...

... it still caused him to hold his breath in awe. Magic was dangerous and powerful. Even this world had to remind him of such.

He gripped his potted plant tightly, stuttering as he finally spoke : ]

...What are you doing?

[Negi looks over, brushing a lock of hair away from his face.] Practicing. It's been a while since I've thrown some magic around and I needed to figure out just how strong my magic is still.

Is that really wise? [ He frowns and shakes his head. ] I... suppose it doesn't matter here, but it's obvious you're rather skilled in the arts.

[ He looks down and away from him now, ughhhh WHAT IS MAGICIAN TALK!!! ] Just what sort of magic was that?

Well it would be less effective if I drew magic from the surrounding area, but I can feel that it's much weaker than usual.

Those were simple magic arrow attacks. I put a shield up in the corner of the sky so they will absorb it.

..... [ Well. That's interesting. He didn't realized that others - the caster most definitely didn't look like one of Terca Lumireis, or at least not one of Brave Vesperia - would have magic.

Then again, he's not completely sure why he thought they wouldn't have it.

He's just studying the explosions of magic in the sky, and the caster, from a slight distance behind. The magic.. felt different to him. This was interesting. ]

[Drawing on another flow, Negi fired ice arrows which shot up against the barrier he set up, and in a muted whump of an exploion, flecks of snow began to fall from the impact point as he lowered his hands with a sigh.]

[Looking over at his newest arrival, he waved.] Hello!

[ Ah. Snow. And that spell looked slightly familiar, in at least the shape it took.

Duke tilts his head at the wave and greeting. He doesn't answer it, really, but watches some more. ]

... How many elements are within your grasp?

How many? I can cast up to ten types of elemental spells. Darkness, light, fire, ice... but wind and thunder are my main types.
