I would just like someone to please explain to me how legalizing gay marriage would destroy the American family or the sanctity of marriage in general. First of all, using the word "sanctity" implies a religious undertone, and if marriage was a strictly religious undertaking, that would be one thing, but it's not. i really don't have anything productive to add here, as i am completely with you on this. since the time when i was about 18 and grew up enough to sit down and think about the whole alternate sexuality thing and figured out my feelings on it, i haven't been able to understand why people have an issue with people being in same-sex relationships at all. the marriage thing just stumps me.

Because the majority of anti-gay people live in subcultures that have extremely rigid sex roles. While of course touting to the skies how great it is to have men be men and women know their place they all quietly resent the hell out of it, men and women, because they don't get to have any fun. It kills them that gays (and feminists) might have the chance to prove that the straight and narrow path *isn't* naturally superior in every way.
