Brave New World is so twistedly amazing! I found some parts genuinely disturbing, like how the Baby Factory restricts the blood flow and injects alcohol pre-nataly to stunt some babies and make them semi-morons.  The way the Controllers ration a heroin-like opiate to subdue the masses.  It seems so repugnant, so horrible, even gruesome in a mad ( Read more... )

God yes! Although, if it weren't required reading I would have put it down after the first chapter. It was painful to read some parts (ie when they describe the ways they fuck with the fetuses to predispose them to whatever task they are supposed to do). You WILL cry when the part about the tiny toddlers and the roses and books comes up, I nearly did. Reading this book, I send up a prayer that Aldous Huxley is off his nut and mankind will never get this demented/twisted/fucked up. Although, terrifyingly enough, I see society already heading in that direction.

Reading the whole book took me about 2 and a half hours. If you like it, the SECOND you are done call me (my cell). I'm dying to discuss this with some one.

I had to read that book in my English class. It was a werid book, I didn't really get into it as much as I did F457.
