What the... This isn't the set of "I Am Legend"!

Slowly, feeling returns to the old bot, stretching down his relays into his limbs as his systems break free of stasis and come fully online. Optic shutters opening, he winces and automatically raises one hand to block the light, cameras still struggling to adjust. A groan escapes him, the sound of his own voice almost foreign to him as he tries ( Read more... )

And not too far out of not-Detroit, a flash of light precedes a grey fighter plane's sudden appearance. One wing is smoking and bent to one side. The plane makes a valiant effort to remain airborne, or at least make a graceful landing. Neither happens, as it lists to one side as it nears the ground. The good wing tears a gouge out of the soil, pitching the rest of the plane forward, nose-first ( ... )

Given there's nothing else out there that's worth noting except for dirt, grass, shrubs and the road he's riding on, it's going to be difficult for Ratchet to miss the sudden sight overhead of an aircraft going down fast with a smoking wing.

Two thoughts hit him at the same time. First is that, praise the All Spark, it's a sign of life!

Second... That it's likely a Decepticon. Autobots, except in rare cases, are typically NOT fliers.

"Of all the fragging luck," the medic growls to himself, driving off the road regardless of thought number two and heading for the crash site. "I finally see something or someone and if it's not a human piloted craft, it'll probably be a Decepticon!"

He's not real keen on the feeling of nature under his tires, but he keeps on course and even kicks up his speed a little. As he closes in on ground zero, he sees the plane is no longer a plane. It's transformed into a robot.

Ah frag!Ratchet pulls up about a hundred yards short and stays in vehicle mode. His scanners go to work, trying to assess ( ... )

In the long run, it's probably a good thing that Powerglide's damaged wing can't shift completely. In its current, disabled state, it's quite probable Ratchet will be able to see the detail on it, specifically the winged Autobot symbol emblazoned upon it.

Of course, the same lack of life that allowed Ratchet to notice Powerglide also allows the Autobot flier to see the vehicle that's pulled up a short distance away. At the same time Ratchet's sensors are working on him, his own are studying the vehicle. It doesn't take long for him to realize the rescue vehicle isn't standard issue. A basic scan reveals the differences between an average vehicle and a Cybertronian with ease.

He raises his good arm into the air, and the damaged one twitches at his side. No telling what this newcomer might be or whose side he's on, but even if he's a 'Con, there's not much he can do about it. Maybe they'd repair him before slagging him.

Yeah, 'Glide. Because the Decepticreeps are known for their compassion for prisoners. He tries to think of the ( ... )

From where he sits, it seems to the old medic that the robot ahead of him won't be shifting back into aircraft mode with any degree of ease. Hn. Ratchet's cameras zoom and focus...then pause over the symbol on the damaged wing.

Is that...? No. It's not quite right. Not an Elite Guard symbol. Still, if that's not what it is, it's got to be some kinda symbol of rank. There's another Autobot symbol emblazoned on the other's chest, one without the added wings. The longer he studies the damaged bot, however, the more Ratchet realizes that his design is a little on the unusual side. Not really like anything he's seen before. With the wave and call of peaceful intentions, Ratchet finally converts to robot mode and approaches on foot. As he gets closer, he soon discovers he's the smaller of the two of them. That in mind, he taps the Autobot symbol on his own hood to draw attention to it as he stops just out of reach ( ... )
