111. Tutorial #11

Finally getting around to my AtM 6.0 requested tutorials! This first one was requested by daynawashere, sorry it's so late!

Take this screencap and crop and resize to 100px width, then paste at the bottom of a 100x100px canvas:

Cut out Ariel and the splash behind her (I normally do this by using the Free Select (lasso) tool to get rid of the bulk of the background, then I use a small eraser brush to erase anything else I don’t want) to get this:

I’ve just realised I did some recolouring in this step, but it would have just been using the Saturation and Levels tools, maybe with some erasing of bits that looked over-saturated. I can try and figure out the specifics if you want :)

Behind Ariel, create a new layer (007def in Hex; R: 0, G: 125, B: 239 in RGB)

On top of the background colour, paste this texture by innocent_lexys and edit it to look like this (can’t remember the settings, but I would have adjusted the Hue and the Levels to get the altered version). Set to Soft Light, opacity 35.3.

Duplicate the texture and set to Screen, opacity 42.4

Paste this layer/texture (I have no idea where it came from, probably another altered texture) and set to Screen, opacity 100

Paste this texture by ellaangelus and edit it to look like this (again, can’t remember the settings, sorry!). Set to Screen, opacity 100

Still behind the Ariel layer, create a text layer that looks like this (font is AR Decode Thin, size 26, colour 2b3d63) and set to Hard Light, opacity 57.6

Above the ‘part of’ layer but still behind Ariel, create a text layer that looks like this (font is AR Blanca Thin, size 18, colour 2b3d63) and set to Screen, opacity 100

Above the ‘your’ layer but still behind Ariel, create a text layer that looks like this (font is AR Berkley Thin, size 26, colour 2b3d63) and set to Hard Light, opacity 69.8

Now on top of the Ariel layer, take this texture by tinebrella, resize/shift it a bit and erase some of the right-hand side so it looks like this and set to Screen, opacity 100

Take the same texture and alter/erase it to look like this and set to Screen, opacity 100

Now take this texture by innocent_lexys and edit/erase it to look like this, then set to Soft Light, opacity 100

Take the same texture as above and edit/erase it to look like this, then set to Soft Light, opacity 100

Some of the text isn’t very visible, so duplicate the ‘your’ layer and bring to the top, then duplicate it twice more

Duplicate the ‘world’ layer and bring to the top, recolour the text to 359f99 and set to Soft Light, opacity 100. Duplicate this new layer once.

And you’re pretty much done! There are some slight differences, but very minor :)

My tutorials are intended to demonstrate my icon-making process, and hopefully to help other icon makers - they are not here so anyone can copy my work, so please don't!
